Senior Associate, Data Science

Location: One of our offices or 100% remote

Bully Pulpit Interactive is an outcomes agency made up of strategists, data scientists, and artists. We come from politics, brands, and government and we communicate without barriers and measure what matters. BPI specializes in public affairs, corporate reputation, and social impact. A growing firm, we sit on both coasts and connect Silicon Valley technology, Madison Avenue creative, Washington policy and real people.

The Impact You Will Make

You will bring a broad range of data analysis, visualization and critical thinking skills to use data to identify the right audience to target and measure how effectively our campaigns persuade them. In this role, you will analyze measurement projects and expand the scope of the communications and advertising questions that our team regularly answers. We’re on the leading (occasionally bleeding) edge of ad technology, and the learning curve is quick and steep. We need someone who is ready to solve the problems of today and help us foresee the challenges of tomorrow – all while applying a data-driven mindset to what we do for our clients.

What the Day-to-Day Looks Like

Overview. Own targeting and measurement projects across multiple clients, working on audience identification, experimental design, analysis, and reporting.

Data Science and Analysis. Run sophisticated analyses on survey, media, and audience data and then distill the findings into program recommendations. Streamline and improve analysis processes, R packages, and more widely used tools.

Team Management Train and mentor team members to expand the agency’s advanced analysis capacity.

What You Bring

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience working with data and analytics to solve problems in the real world.
  • Strong proficiency using SQL to clean and access data. You know how to use a data warehouse to take a dataset, clean things up, and get the right data to solve the problem at hand.
  • Experience using R or Python to analyze data. You can confidently write scripts that take a raw dataset, classify it as needed, and then analyze it with tools like regressions.
  • Track record of taking complex analyses and communicating them in writing, in decks, and in conversations to a wide range of audiences and at a variety of technical knowledge levels.
  • Knowledge of advanced data science and statistical concepts and experience applying them. You have opinions about how to think about the uncertainty in an analysis and you’re ready to explain that to people who don’t have statistics training.
  • Team player attitude. You’re excited to collaborate with other experts in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected shifts in priorities while maintaining focus and productivity in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete daily workload and projects with minimal supervision and in accordance with deadlines and shifting priorities.
