We are looking for a research assistant with expertise in research methods and project management to help Duolingo’s Efficacy Research Lab with critical tasks, including providing project management for internal research studies to evaluate Duolingo’s courses and assisting with data analysis.
This is a temporary freelance position (no benefits included). All work will be conducted remotely and hours are flexible.
You Will…
- Work closely with learning scientists in the Efficacy Research Lab to set up data collection pipelines, including putting materials in Qualtrics, facilitating piloting of materials, launching data collection via Qualtrics, and setting up testing on platforms of external testing providers
- Manage the continuous data collection process for research studies, including responding to participant emails, monitoring data pipelines, and processing participant payments
- Coordinate with external agencies involved in research studies, in particular, external testing providers (e.g., Avant Assessment)
- Help with data wrangling, data analysis and data visualization using Google Sheets and Python
- Format white papers in LaTeX for Duolingo’s efficacy website
- Help with preparing and proofreading research reports and manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals
You Have…
- Current enrollment in a PhD program in applied linguistics, linguistics, educational technology, cognitive psychology or another relevant field
- Experience in conducting research with human participants
- Experience in project management
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency with LaTeX document preparation
- Proficiency with quantitative data analysis and visualization

This role will bridge the gap between product, sales, and marketing functions to ensure marketing is aligned with the needs of the sales and product roadmap and strategies. What you’ll be doing
- Strategy creation and execution: Craft a comprehensive strategy for brand awareness, protocol adoption, and growth of the protocol’s core KPIs.
- Build the systems and processes for detail-oriented execution: Work with product, community, and BD to deliver on your strategy and campaigns in a detail-oriented, time-conscious, and competitive manner that drives results. Build the systems and processes along the way to most effectively execute.
- Data-driven decision-making: Analyze market trends, competitor activities, user behaviors, campaign performance, and community involvement to inform and optimize on your strategy
- Budget management: Propose and own a marketing budget, including the strategic rationale for events, campaigns, and other resources. Delivering data driven reports on the ROI regularly.
- Community and marketing advocacy: Advocate for community and marketing efforts on a product and organizational level. We want to grow a world-class marketing and community team; help us deliver.
- Coordinate and collaborate: Collaborate closely with other members of the marketing team to brainstorm, create, and execute on your strategy and campaigns while fostering a culture of creativity and experimentation.
Requirements
- Self starter, willing to roll up their sleeves with any challenge
- At least 3 years experience as a PMM
- Run both scalable and scrappy campaigns across various channels
- Proven ability to turn data into creative action

Responsibilities
As a Technical Support Engineer, you will:
* Guide our customers' engineers and product teams through their Tiptap-related questions, providing detailed explanations and code snippets when necessary.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues involving Tiptap and related web technologies, which may include replicating customer environments and debugging code.* Answer technical questions from prospects during their exploration phase, providing in-depth, developer-focused feedback and insights.* Participate in sales discovery calls with companies interested in Tiptap and its developers to clarify technical questions.* Serve as the liaison between our engineering team and customers, collecting and relaying in-depth technical questions, feedback, and feature requests.* Build and maintain a knowledge base to improve technical documentation and FAQs, streamline support, and enhance the user experience to make life easier for all of us.* Collaborate with our engineering team to stay up-to-date on product features and functionalities, ensuring you can effectively guide customers and community members through new or complex use cases.Qualifications
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical support engineering role, preferably supporting developer-oriented products.
* Proficiency in JavaScript and familiarity with front-end development frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js) to understand and troubleshoot customer code integrating Tiptap.* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to engineers and product teams.* Proactive attitude and a strong customer service orientation, with an ability to empathize with customer needs and provide timely solutions.* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.* Experience with ticketing systems and customer support platforms.* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.Bonus
