The Corporate Paralegal US Remote will be responsible for providing legal and transactional support to Performant’s Legal and Compliance Department. You will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with significant independence, and be expected to exercise sound judgment and ethical decision-making.

  • Supports Performant’s legal and compliance team in providing transactional and regulatory legal support for healthcare- and corporate-related filings and transactions.
  • Serves as contracts administrator, managing, tracking, and performing audits of legal documents in collaboration with cross-organization stakeholders.
  • Assists in drafting of contract amendments, renewals, and terminations, and review of contracts to ensure any contractual deviations from standards receive the proper approvals from concerned key stakeholders.
  • Manages new vendor onboarding and supports vendor management objectives.
  • Performs legal, regulatory, and sub-regulatory research as directed by senior staff to support the organization’s legal and compliance efforts. Maintains Performant’s Legal inbox, handling and triaging correspondence as needed.
  • Helps maintain Performant’s registration in SAM, GSA Advantage!, and other registries in accordance with Performant government contracts.
  • Oversee and manage Performant’s portfolio of corporate filings and licenses.
  • Creates and maintains corporate reporting, such as tracking employee training completion, contract status reports, and various reporting required by senior leadership.
  • Serves as a content manager and owner of Legal and Compliance’s learning management platform. Helps create new training, sends out reminders, generates reports, and works with Corporate Programs to improve Performant’s enterprise training efforts.
  • Assists in the creation, maintenance, and enforcement of Performant’s Legal and Compliance policies.
  • Serves as Secretary for Performant’s Compliance Committee, taking minutes and tracking action items. The Corporate Paralegal also helps create the materials for the Compliance Committee.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned by Legal and Compliance staff.
  • Develops and maintains strategic relationships with internal stakeholders, including the Finance, Information Security, and Human Resources teams.

  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines without sacrificing work-product quality.
  • Experience using Office365, SharePoint, WestLaw Practical Law Connect, and DocuSign required. Familiarity with Thomson Reuters HighQ and Atlassian Jira platforms a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to and learn new software and technologies.
  • Good legal and regulatory research skills, and a working knowledge of healthcare reimbursement.
  • Proficiency in legal terminology and familiarity with legal department matters.
  • Proficiency in healthcare terminology and familiarity with healthcare payor-related matters.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, collaborative approach to projects, and an innate desire to learn.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality to sensitive information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate; Juris Doctor welcomed.
  • Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred, with payor-side experience a plus.
  • Minimum of three years of corporate in-house experience preferred; law firm experience also considered.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts.
  • Experience managing corporate filings and licenses.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must submit to, and pass, a pre-hire criminal background check. Must not have any felony convictions, misdemeanors, or be listed on any state/federal debarment or exclusion lists.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain client required clearances, as well as pass regular company background and/or drug screenings post-hire.

Physical Requirements:

**NOTE: Must be able to meet requirements for and perform work assignments in accordance with Company policies and expectations on a home remote basis (and must meet Performant remote-worker requirements) until at which time staff may be notified and required to work from a Performant office location on an ad-hoc or periodic basis.

  • Basic office equipment required to perform remote work is provided by the company.
  • Job is performed in a standard busy office environment with moderate noise level (or may be home-office setting subject to Company approval and Teleworker Agreement), sits at a desk during scheduled shift, uses office phone or headset provided by the Company for calls, making outbound calls and answering inbound return calls using an office phone system; views a computer monitor, types on a keyboard and uses a mouse.
  • Reads and comprehends information in electronic (computer) or paper form (written/printed).
  • Sit/stand 8 or more hours per day; has the option to stand as needed while on calls; reach as needed to use office equipment.
  • Consistently viewing a computer screen and types frequently, but not constantly, using a keyboard to update accounts.
  • Consistently communicates on the phone as required primarily within the department and company and may include client contacts or other third-party depending on assignment with account holders, may dial manually when need or use dialer system; headset is also provided.
  • Occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 10lbs.
