Join our product team to help us provide free tutoring to 8 million low-income high school students in the U.S.
UPchieve product managers are both strategic thinkers and hands-on builders. While you'll spend much of your time analyzing experiments and business cases, you'll dust off your design or engineering skills to pinch-hit when it's time to ship.
We're looking for a PM-designer hybrid to help us crack one of the hardest problems in marketplace businesses: building sustainable supply. In this role, you'll develop and test ways to better use existing volunteers while exploring channels for new volunteers, like college and peer student programs.
Given our early stage, you'll shape both our product's direction and team's culture. Think startup energy, nonprofit purpose. Come put your name on every corner of the world's best tutoring platform for low-income students!
This might be the right job for you if...
* You obsess over our users' needs, and you'd chase our mission elsewhere if not here
* You're a PM who designs or a designer who spreadsheets. You love getting your hands dirty making real things.* You think in complete user experiences, mapping how multiple features work together to drive behavior change and hit ambitious goals* You're scrappy. You dig in and figure it out with what you've got.* Like in a good game of Risk, you play multiple angles at once and use data, decision trees, and experiments to know when to commitWhat you'll do
* Deeply understand volunteer motivations through user research and data analysis
* Understand our supply side KPIs better than anyone else and map out multiple viable product directions to hit our goals* Cultivate a portfolio of creative ideas with promising business cases that fit those product directions* Gets your hands dirty as a designer, pairing with engineers to prototype, test, and ship those ideas* Run and analyze experiments to validate which ideas actually drive your goals* Go to market and scale your most successful experiments, leading on design and marketing and helping with user support and staff training* Develop partnerships with organizations to create sustainable volunteer pipelinesPreferred Experience
Here are some experiences we think would make a π candidate, but they aren't the only things that could do that. You don't need to check all the boxes to apply.
* Has 5+ years of product management experience, including working directly with engineers and designers
* Has significant product design experience* Thrives in a startup environment with minimal structure* Can demonstrate strong analytical and strategic thinking skills* Has shipped multiple successful products or features from zero to one* Has experience with user research and usability testing* Has experience with rapid experimentation, statistics, and data-driven decision-making* Has experience with marketplace dynamics and/or education technology* Has a personal connection to our mission through experience, family, or by other proximity (e.g., grew up low-income, taught in a Title I school, etc.)Important
Salary ranges
While our ideal candidate is pursuing a senior level role or above, we are considering candidates at varying experience or skill levels for this role. It will ultimately be about finding the right person for the team and then bring them in at the appropriate level.
U.S. work authorization
Right now, our small mighty team is focusing on candidates who are already authorized to work in the U.S. We're not set up to sponsor visas or handle immigration procedures at the moment. It's a tough call, and we're aiming to expand our capabilities in the future. If you're ready to work in the U.S., we'd love to connect with you!
Equal opportunity employer
Given our mission, it's probably no surprise we're big believers in equal opportunities for everyone. We're committed to creating a workplace that's as erse as the students we serve.
