About the opportunity
We are seeking a Principal Solana Smart Contract Engineer to lead the development of a new Solana-based product from the ground up. This role is critical to the success of the product, where you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and securing smart contracts, ensuring seamless integration with backend and data engineering teams, and optimizing performance for large-scale B2B2C distribution.
We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of smart contract development from inception to operation, working closely with product and engineering teams to shape the vision, bring it to life, and ultimately maintain, optimize, and integrate it into Figment’s other products. You’ll be responsible for setting technical direction and driving best practices for Solana development.
This is a full-time remote position, with team members across North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. This role is unique because you’ll be at the forefront of building a new product that expands the blockchain ecosystem. Compensation
One of Figment’s core principles is “Making the Invisible Visible” - ensuring transparency and information sharing in all communication. Figment is committed to transparency regarding pay, benefits, and other compensation types for all internal roles as well as all roles being hired for.
Base Salary: The CAD base salary range for this position is CAD $200,000 - $230,000. This range reflects base salary only, and does not include additional compensation or benefits. For candidates in other countries, the pay range will be disclosed upon your first interview with Figment (being a globally remote company, the list of salary ranges would simply be too long to note here!). The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum range for a new hire across all Canada or the US. A candidate’s specific pay within the range will be determined by various factors including job-related skills, relevant education, and training.

About Oku
At Oku, we aim to close the gap between the CeFi and DeFi trading experiences. It is no mistake that 95% of crypto trading occurs on centralized platforms like Binance and Coinbase since their organizations have spent substantially more time and resources investing in their trading interface, while DeFi has primarily been focused at the infrastructure and protocol level for the last several years.

This role is pivotal in providing deep quantitative expertise to top DeFi protocols and ecosystems including Uniswap, Near and Movement on how they can grow, optimize, and de-risk mechanisms within their various system. This person will lead a team of researchers to analyze on-chain and off-chain data, develop models, and provide actionable insights into the rapidly evolving crypto and Web3 ecosystem. This role requires deep expertise in blockchain analytics, quantitative research, statistical modeling, and strong.
Responsibilities
- Own multiple clients by developing research roadmaps and managing the team responsible for executing these roadmaps at a high-quality bar.
- Support, grow, and develop a team of high-performing researchers capable of tackling DeFi’s most complex problems.
- Perform in-depth mechanism design and research to develop the next generation of DeFi mechanisms and patterns.
- Develop predictive models, statistical analyses, and machine learning algorithms to extract insights into blockchain and market data.
- Work with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets, ensuring data integrity and efficient processing.
- Publish research reports and insights on blockchain data trends, protocol performance, and economic models.
- Attend international conferences to present Gauntlet’s research to the larger DeFi and Web3 community.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in research, data science, or mechanism design with at least 2+ years of experience managing high-performance teams.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with the ability to operate in a client-facing role.
- Deep understanding of DeFi and crypto topics either through professional work or personal interest and experience.
- Proven mentorship capacity & experience.

The national pay range for this role is $180,000 - $220,000 plus additional On Target Earnings potential by level and equity in the company.
