What the day will look like.

Manage the development, maintenance and distribution of Aon’s Digital Design System, with core responsibilities including managing the Figma component libraries, coordination with cross-function development efforts and delivery of the Webflow publish.

The ideal candidate will be a Figma expert who can maintain the current system and create complex, flexible components while maintaining required guardrails. The role’s responsibilities extend through the entire system’s lifecycle, which includes the design, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of a library used by multiple product teams and business units throughout Aon. This role will implement the vision and direction for the Digital Design System established by leadership.

Figma Component Library:

Maintain current component libraries in Figma, including updates to current components based on designer feedback or WCAG evolution.

  • Create new components based on product team outputs, ensuring they meet WCAG accessibility standards and are integrated into the component libraries.

Digital Design System Site (Webflow Publish)

  • Responsible for the maintenance of Aon’s Digital Design System website in Webflow (digitaldesignsystem.aon.com).

  • Update the publish to reflect component releases. Create new content to coincide with major system updates.

  • Manage system release and document version history. Distribute release notes to relevant parties.

Cross Functional Support

  • Ensure the component libraries are translated correctly into web components, including dev handoff and design QA.

  • Work with various teams to establish a governance process for managing requests for new component creation and distribution.

  • Create, monitor, and share key performance indicators to demonstrate the return on investment of design system adoption. Monitor and report on system usage across the enterprise.

  • Present standard methodologies and guidelines to product owners, content specialists, QA teams, and other collaborators.

  • Conduct regular design QA and audits with external design teams and collaborate with product owners to make necessary revisions.

  • Manage the distribution of the design toolkit (Figma, fonts, etc.) to internal teams and third-party vendors.

Design Team Support

  • Establish ongoing dialogue with designers to gather feedback on symbol library performance and effectiveness. Conduct quarterly one-on-one reviews with design team to discuss successes and challenges.

  • Develop and implement plans to support the seamless integration of updates, emphasizing the importance of engaging leadership and mitigating risks.

  • Establish and maintain a governance framework for the design system, including documentation, training, and continuous evaluation.

Skills and experience that will lead to success.

  • More than 8 years of experience in digital product design or design system creation/management.

  • A portfolio demonstrating ownership and maintenance of enterprise-level design systems in Figma.

  • A track record of creating and leading impactful design systems at a Fortune 100 organization.

  • Mastery in creating usable, accessible, scalable and modular components in Figma.

  • Experience collaborating with teams with varied strengths in a dynamic, fast-paced growth environment.

  • Experience leading migration efforts from legacy design systems to modern frameworks, ensuring seamless transitions with minimal disruption or downtime.

  • Experience designing, maintaining and managing a website in Webflow

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $120,000 - $140,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
