Title: Social Media Coordinator

Location: US National – Remote

Summary:

The ASPCA Communications Department is a passionate, collaborative team responsible for leveraging various communications channels to further the organization’s mission of preventing cruelty to dogs, cats, equines, and farm animals throughout the United States.

As part of the Communications Department, the Social Media Coordinator will work closely with the Senior Director of Social Media to oversee daily aspects of ASPCApro’s social media channels. Responsibilities will include managing social media pages and Facebook groups while collaborating with various departments and subject matter experts to implement effective communications. The coordinator’s work will help establish the ASPCA as a thought leader amongst animal welfare professionals around the country. They will be responsible for leveraging social media to effectively reach the ASPCA’s professional audiences, which include animal shelter/rescue professional and veterinary professionals, and further the organization’s mission to improve the lives of animals.

This remote-based position (which requires travel, as described below) is open to all candidates based within the United States.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Social Media Content Development and Community Management (50%)

  • Collaborate with a cross-departmental team to manage a social media content calendar for ASPCApro’s social media channels and Facebook Groups.
  • Manage day-to-day posting, engagement, and Reels/TikTok video creation for ASPCApro social media channels and Facebook Groups.
  • Generate new, creative ideas to increase engagement and reach of ASPCApro’s social media channels.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure proper integration of the social media element within each campaign strategy.
  • Consult with ASPCA experts to accurately respond to social media inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Email Marketing Manager to leverage social media to bring in new emails and leverage email to support social media engagement.
  • Stay up-to-date on new social media trends, bringing new ideas to the table to benefit team goals.
  • Design, implement and track social media ads and budgets.
  • Conduct regular analytics reports of paid and organic efforts to track success of social media campaigns and initiatives.

Team Collaboration & Communication (35%)

  • Work closely with Senior Director of Social Media to plan and execute campaigns and initiatives in close collaboration various departments. This involves development of comprehensive strategy and execution documents for each major initiative and keeping track of deadlines and next steps.
  • Participate and contribute ideas during meetings and work cross-functionally with other members of the team.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with various departments within the organization and with outside organizations.
  • Research, participate, and share professional development/learning opportunities with the rest of the team, as appropriate.

Administrative and Analytics (15%)

  • Manage monthly and yearly reports on social media metrics.
  • Schedule meetings, create agendas, take notes, and develop actionable next steps to keep projects moving.
  • Coordinate logistical details around social media activations and events.

Qualifications:

Ability to craft presentations and present findings at meetings, Ability to effectively manage time and schedules, Ability to follow and keep abreast of animal welfare events and developments around the country, Ability to occasionally travel for conferences and very occasionally work after hours or weekends, Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a erse community, Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team, Computer, Internet, and social media savvy, Displays care and concern for the safety and well-being of self, animals and others, especially during stressful situations, Excellent organizational and communication skills, Must be able to conceive, draft, proofread and edit written materials, Must be able to lift and carry to up 25 lbs., including domestic animals, and work for 8+ hour days, Must be able to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment, under tight deadlines, Strong communications skills, both written and verbal, Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, Strong metrics analytical skills, Strong passion for animal welfare and understanding of the ASPCA’s mission and programs

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience, Minimum 1 year of social media experience, either through internships or through full-time positions. Professional experience leveraging social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.
