We're looking for an experienced, creative inidual to lead the design direction of our consultancy. Kingside develops products from the absolute bottom up, which means that our design load includes:
- branding
- web UI/UX
- graphics
- social media/marketing elements
Whilst we don't expect you to be an expert in every single of the above fields, we do need someone who can straddle across them, providing feedback and direction to agencies or our in-house design team (to be hired!).
It's pretty crucial that you be a self-thinker and motivated to get through tasks on your own.
We value flexibility; as a startup, we need to move fast and make the most of circumstances at hand.
Prior design experience is key, with big emphasis being placed on someone who has previously lead design teams and personally navigated design decisions.
What you'll be doing:
- Managing full direction of design for each of our portfolio companies, including web, graphic and branding
- Being the point of contact for all external design agencies
- Organising timelines around various design elements for our development team, taking feedback, making iterations where needed

Requirements
4+ years industry experience designing consumer mobile apps at scale
Ability to untangle vague conceptual problems, and have a sharp intuition for the most accessible mental models and flows, so users can immediately start gaining value out of the product.
A strong eye for visual polish and user delight. You can create and prototype clear, intuitive, and appealing UI and interactions and enjoys thinking playfully & creatively.
Pragmatic about the implications and practicality of your designs. You don't get stuck on pretty UI or deep abstractions, and can balance between craft, speed, and product goals.
Ability to internalize all inputs and feedback to help you reach an optimal decision for the team and mission.
Big plus if you have hands-on experience with coding, illustration and/or game design.

Project Overview

About the (remote-first) role
Currently, we are making a warehouse environment with different low-poly objects, people and robots. It will be used for rendering several videos (in Cycles), and later for creating an interactive client-facing visualization (basically an extremely simple game in Unreal/Unity; a separate team will work on that, so no worries, you won't have to code :) ).
We need some help with that. We need someone who is:
* Comfortable with using shader nodes - think creating simple materials and textures;
* Comfortable with geometry nodes - not talking about crazy setups, just medium-complexity node trees for procedural assets;
* Has some experience in manual modelling - although the bulk of the work will be in geo nodes;
* Has experience in animation, as there will be a lot of motion work;
* Comfortable collaborating with others - (we are a small, largely asynchronous team).
The long-term goal is to create a growing asset library and a cohesive visual language together with our brand design team. It will continuously evolve as we launch new products, so there should be no shortage of work to do.

The Senior Designer plays a vital role in the development, direction and execution of all creative assets for Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA). As one of two designers that report to the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer (CCMO) in the Communications and Marketing Office, this position collaborates closely with the other designer to ensure brand consistency and a unified visual voice across all platforms. Projects include high-profile work for print collateral, direct mail, digital media, email campaigns, identity systems, periodicals, presentations and motion graphics, under the creative direction of the CCMO and in coordination with the Senior Director of Marketing.
Primary Responsibilities
Brand Leadership: Establish and maintain comprehensive design standards for print, digital, advertising and motion graphics, including brand guidelines and usage of identity elements (e.g., fonts, color palette, logo usage).

About the Role

The new app will be a community-based competitive live streaming app where fans don’t just watch — they pick winners. The app is aimed at GenZ with US based teenagers as the primary target. We are looking to hire a freelance designer to help design the entire app from wireframes but we are starting with a simple design challenge. We will choose the freelancer designer that creates the funnest experience for our users. Sending previous portfolio designs are perfectly acceptable but anyone sending a sample design based on the specifications below will receive special consideration.
🎨 HotMic Battle Screen – Viewer Design Requirements
The app will have communities that have specifc rules on the battle format. Communites will mainly be about sports teams. HotMic AI will come up with fun, interesting, and provokative questions to spur debate on the community topic. At the heart of the experience is a live “battle” between two creators who go head-to-head in a timed, five-question challenge. Each contestant gets a specified amount of time to answer questions in a debate style format. After both responses, the audience votes in real time to decide the winner of that round.
We designed a pilot challenge for designers who want to show us something specific. The assignment focuses on designing the Battle Screen for Viewers — the most important screen in the app. It’s where the live show happens. A strong design here should feel dynamic, competitive, and fun, fun, fun — something that draws viewers in and makes them want to vote, react, and come back for more.
🌟 Project Scope
You are designing only the Battle Screen from the viewer’s perspective. This is not the contestant interface. Submissions should focus on the live viewing experience, including layout, voting, question display, chat, and optional engagement features.

1. 🎥 Video Layout
There are always two live contestants on screen.
Both must have equal visual weight — either top/bottom or side/side. Designer’s choice.
They can be full-screen or partial, but should be large enough to clearly see facial expressions.
Only one contestant speaks at a time — it should be visually obvious who is speaking (e.g., highlight, glow, audio animation).
The non-speaking contestant may be muted — this could be reflected visually as well.
