About Us
Close is a bootstrapped, profitable, 100% remote, ~100 person team of thoughtful iniduals who prioritize taking ownership and making a meaningful impact. We’re eager to make a product our customers fall in love with over and over again.
We 💛 small scaling businesses. Since 2013, we’ve been building a CRM that focuses on better communication, without the hassle of manual data entry or a complex UI. We are out to supercharge sales productivity with the most modern, thoughtfully designed, all-in-one, communication-focused CRM.
Our backend tech stack consists primarily of Python Flask web apps with our TaskTiger scheduler handling many of the backend asynchronous task processing chores. Our data stores include MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis. The underlying infrastructure runs on AWS using a combination of managed services like EKS, MSK, RDS and ElasticCache and non-managed services running on EC2 instances. We have CI/CD pipelines that build Docker images, run automated tests and deploy to Kubernetes clusters. We also use these images in our local development environment allowing coding locally against all of our services. We have a well-documented public API that is consumed by our front-end JavaScript app as well as numerous integrations. Our infrastructure is heavily automated using Terraform, Ansible and other AWS tools.
Our product development process is inspired by Shape Up. We love open sourcing our code and ideas on our GitHub and on The Making of Close, our behind-the-scenes Product & Engineering blog. Check out our open source projects like SocketShark, TaskTiger, LimitLion and ciso8601.
About the Role
You will be joining one of our six cross-functional teams. These are the CRM, Admin & Onboarding, Conversations, Messaging & Scheduling, Automations & Integrations and Data Insights teams. You will be regularly collaborating with other backend & frontend engineers, product managers, designers, and other teams here at Close.

- Stay ahead of the curve on LLM advances, OSS tools, and model performance trends.
Why join Ambush?
- Industry leading pay: strong base salary + uncapped profit share + equity

The Role
Hive is looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the engineering side of our Research and Development (RND) team through its next chapter of scale. Reporting into the CTO and working hand in hand with our VP Product, you’ll play a key role in evolving our team structure, strengthening our technical foundation, and driving delivery across multiple pods. We’re looking for a people-first leader with a proven track record of delivering real value to customers through great products.
Our RND Team
RND at Hive consists of four pods – Product, Reliability/Platform, Integrations/Data, and Ads. Product, design, engineering and management resources are embedded across all of our pods. Our development philosophy is to build minimum viable products and deliver them as quickly as possible to market, then iterate based on real user feedback. Using this approach we’ve built a growing, profitable business - and the scale and complexity of the technical problems we’re solving is large and growing, too.
What You’ll Do:
Grow and develop a high performing team
* Lead and support the Engineering Managers and inidual contributors across multiple pods.
* Set clear expectations, coach for growth, and build a culture of accountability, autonomy, and continuous learning.* Champion hiring, onboarding, and leveling frameworks that ensure we’re bringing in and developing top talent.Drive Engineering strategy and execution
* Partner with the CTO and VP Product to shape and execute on a long-term technology roadmap aligned with our business objectives.
* Design engineering org structures that scale as we grow, while keeping communication tight and priorities aligned.* Build operational maturity: define and implement the right rituals, tools, and processes to enable delivery at scale.Raise the bar on performance and reliability
* Own key KPIs across reliability, latency, scalability, and engineering velocity — and drive initiatives to improve them.
* Cultivate a strong engineering quality bar: thoughtful architecture, technical rigor, and a bias for shipping meaningful impact.* Take pride in how our infrastructure and product perform for customers — and hold the team to those same high standards.Be a key player in driving Hive's success:
* Collaborate deeply with product-facing teams (the rest of RND) and customer-facing teams (sales, customer success) to ensure engineering is aligned with customer needs and company goals.
* Bring a constructive, systems-thinking lens to cross-functional discussions — always pushing us to move faster and smarter.* Be a cultural leader: model our values, advocate for our people, and help build a company where great engineers do their best workWho you are
* You’ve led engineering teams for 5+ years and have spent at least a year in a Director (or equivalent) role. You’ve built, scaled, and evolved engineering orgs before — and carry those lessons with you.
* You understand the tension between process and moving fast, and work with your teams to make sure we're operating efficiently and effectively for the scale we're at.* You communicate with clarity and precision. You collaborate with humility and lead with influence.* You are a people-first leader. You coach, inspire, and give clear, actionable feedback. * You have a systematic approach. You understand that strong teams, clear principles, and the right technical architecture all reinforce each other.* You are a builder of teams, systems, and operating models. You always think a few quarters ahead, and proactively shaping the team we’ll need in the future. How you show up
* You deliver and build credibility by doing. Your execution is reliable, your judgment is sound, and your standards are high.
* You act with urgency. You care deeply about the team's success and act accordingly. * You challenge the status quo. You’re always looking for ways to raise the bar and push Hive forward. * You’re a peer to the leadership team. You surface risks early, solve problems collaboratively, and actively support your fellow leaders. * Lastly, you know what matters. You manage your time with intention, direct energy where it counts, and focus on outcomes over optics.Technologies we use & teach
* Frontend: React, Typescript
* Backend: Python, Django* Databases: Redis, MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Clickhouse* Infra: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform* Experience with these is a plus, but we know smart people are quick learners!Comp/Benefits Package:
* Meaningful salary and equity. You're rewarded based on impact.

We just ask that you have legal work authorization in the country you reside in. * Flexible work hours: Choose your 9–5 as long as it’s not disruptive to your role, team, and Hive* Health Insurance: Comprehensive health & dental coverage with a parental leave top-up program* Open vacation/PTO policy: So you can be happy and healthy!About Hive

We’re hiring a Senior Product Software Engineer to join our team remotely in Canada. This role is open only to candidates currently residing in Canada with valid Canadian work authorization.
Hive is launching a brand new Ads team, and we’re looking for a second engineer to help build it from the ground up! As one of the founding members, you’ll have an opportunity to shape not only the product, but the team.
Our Developer Department consists of three teams – Product, Reliability, and Integrations. As a member of the new Ads team, you will have the opportunity to influence how the broader engineering team operates, shaping collaboration, best practices, and standards while working closely with members of other teams. The Ads team will be instrumental in driving a new revenue stream and leading cross-functional efforts to bring this product line to life.
Our clients invest a significant chunk of their advertising budgets on platforms beyond Email and SMS, and we’re eager to help them streamline their efforts and make smarter, more effective decisions. If you're someone who gets fired up about building products from scratch and tackling challenging problems, we’d love to hear from you!
Our development philosophy is to build minimum viable products and deliver them as quickly as possible to market, then iterate based on real user feedback. Using this approach we’ve built a growing, profitable business and the scale of technical problems we’re solving is quickly growing too.
What you’ll get up to:
* You rapidly build new features that users will love, continuously refining them based on feedback.
* Contribute to code reviews, technical spec reviews, technical planning, and architectural decision-making.* Be able to take responsibility and ownership of projects from start to finish.* Take part in technical planning and architectural decision-making.* Find solutions to optimize bottle-necks and general system wide performance. Always on the lookout to keep the tech stack updated with current standards.* Collaborate with team members on designing scalable, and well documented web architecture, including APIs and backend systems.* Work directly with our customer success team to solve customer-impacting problems.Past Projects:
Here is a look into just some of the projects we've worked on.
* We created an integration with Meta ads manager to allow clients to use our platform’s segmentation to create custom audiences on Meta.
* We built a state-based pipeline to send 10MM+ personalized emails and SMS every day.* We built a simple UI to let our clients easily query their own customer data. Behind the scenes, it executes queries against billions of data points across different types of databases and combines the results together in seconds.* Using Kubernetes and Docker, we built a task processing system which runs billions of jobs every day. About CoW DAO
CoW DAO is on a mission to protect Ethereum users from the dangers of DeFi. It does this by supporting the development of CoW Protocol, CoW Swap, MEV Blocker, and CoW AMM, and by funding values-aligned projects through the CoW Grants Program.
CoW Protocol is the second-largest DEX aggregator by monthly volume and the first-largest intents-based exchange. MEV Blocker is currently involved in ~4% of all Ethereum transactions, making it the category leader. CoW AMM is the only live AMM that protects LPs from LVR (loss-versus rebalancing).
As a member of CoW DAO’s core team, you will have the opportunity to shape these essential products, and contribute to the Ethereum ecosystem more broadly.
About the role
Location: We are a fully remote team, and although we hire almost globally, there is a preference for this role to be based in Europe or remote +/- 4 hours CEST time

You’ll be joining the team overseeing the design, monitoring, and enhancement of the CoW Protocol’s solver competition. Ultimately, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the CoW Protocol’s solver competition operates effectively, in line with the CoW DAO’s principles of fairness, safety, and decentralization.
What you’ll do
- Provide technical support to solver teams; keeping them updated, gathering their input, and troubleshooting any issues that arise
- Dive deep into the competition dynamics, understanding the needs of solvers, and crafting tools to enhance competition monitoring
- Engage in various implementation tasks for the solver competition, like setting up rewards systems, managing token balances, and refining price data feeds
- Apply data analysis techniques to gain insights on the behavior of both our users and solvers, and design metrics to evaluate how strong our trading mechanism is
- Explore the fundamental Game Theory principles guiding the competition’s mechanics and rules
- Help towards the further decentralization of the solver competition
Who you are
- You’re skilled in coding, especially in Python, and familiarity with Rust is a bonus
- You’re proficient in SQL and comfortable navigating databases
- You’re intrigued by the Game Theory principles driving the mechanics of the solver competition
- You’re passionate about blockchain technology and advocate for a decentralized future in digital currencies

Senior MERN Developer (React / Node / JavaScript)
**
Remote – Contract or Full-Time**We’re looking for a senior-level full-stack dev who knows the MERN stack inside out and is still very much in the code.
This isn’t a management role. You’ll be contributing directly — writing code, shaping architecture, and helping us build out real product features. You’ll work closely with our IT technical team. You’ll have a voice in decisions, but we expect you to ship and stay hands-on.
**
What You’ll Be Working On:**We’re building a modern workforce management platform for field service teams — real-world use cases like install tracking, dispatch, mobile work orders, photo verification, etc. It’s not a toy app or another dashboard overlay — we’re solving actual ops problems with a lean team and strong stack.
**
Stack:**- React (Context API, moving toward modularization)
- Node.js + Express
- MongoDB
- REST APIs
- AWS (Lambda, S3, etc.)
**
What We’re Looking For:**Strong experience with **React, Node.js, MongoDB
**You’ve shipped production MERN apps before — full cycle, not just small pieces
- Comfortable designing API routes, data models, and component structure
- Clean, maintainable code and good git hygiene
- You’re opinionated about architecture but not religious — you know trade-offs
- Comfortable working async and remote — you don’t need hand-holding
**Bonus If You’ve Got:
**- Experience with AWS (Lambda, CloudFront, S3, etc.)
- React Native or mobile-first development experience
- Integration with third-party APIs (auth, maps, OCR, image validation, etc.)
What This Is Not:
- Not an agency request
- Not a “review PRs and delegate” role
- Not a team lead / manager position
If you're looking to stay close to the code and work on something real, we should talk.
**
How to Apply:**Shoot over a quick note with:
- A link to your GitHub or portfolio (real work, not tutorial clones)
- What you're best at, and what kind of problems you like solving
- Your availability and rate (hourly or monthly)
- Optional: something in JavaScript that drives you nuts and how you deal with it
