Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Program Management to manage a wide range of programs and high-impact activities across VSCO. You will be responsible for the design and development of our system of delivery as well as the effectiveness of our team and product studio operations. Designer, coach, builder, mentor, and change agent, are all words that resonate with our ideal candidate. 

 

The Director of Program Management is responsible for enabling the achievement of larger organizational goals. They facilitate the efforts between different teams and departments through the design of systems and processes based on lean and agile principles. This leader will own the overall program of delivery with strong attention to strategy, implementation, and relationships. The Director of Program Management helps our organization stay focused on the right things at the right times, and ultimately ensures we are on an upward trajectory of success and growth.

 

A successful Director of Program Management at VSCO must have a broad knowledge of program management principles and practices, operational models and systems design, experience coaching teams and leadership, and an agile approach to the science of execution. They must have a strategic mindset as well as be able to lead and develop others through influence, coaching, partnerships, and day-to-day execution activities.

Day-to-day

  • Coach, mentor, and guide our Product Studio group (Product, Design, Engineering) to design the right solutions for their specific challenges. Analyze the organization's existing ways of working and implement improvements to help streamline processes and create effective outcomes.
  • Support the effective flow of daily operations that support the execution of our current company objectives. Automate where it makes sense and simplify always. 
  • Coach teams and leaders, helping them stay on track with agile practices, fine-tuning approaches as needed to ensure the overall strategic goals are being met.
  • Keep senior leadership and the broader organization informed and connected with effective and accurate information radiators and visualizations.
  • Partner closely with the VP of People ensuring that our ‘how we work’ practices enhance our company culture and are designed in line with our values and principles. Culture follows structure.
  • Promote and advocate a culture of continuous improvement and learning through retrospectives and the implementation of feedback loops throughout the system. 

 

Experience Expectations

  • 5+ years of experience in program management, business operations, or similar operational or systems design roles. Agile coach, program, or project manager, are other roles you may have found yourself in. Don't feel limited by the positions listed here, instead think creatively about the roles you've had and how that experience might apply to the description at the top.😎
  • Deep understanding of program management techniques and methods, especially from the agile school of thought. Not looking for a strict PMP approach.
  • Hands-on and theoretical knowledge of change adoption principles and performance evaluation processes & metrics.
  • Experience with modern data analysis, reporting, and budgeting practices. Seen more than one approach in your career.👍
  • Strong business acumen with strategy development and deployment experience.
  • Working knowledge or confidence to quickly learn key productivity tools and software (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Monday.com, Google Suite, etc.). An ability to adapt to any tool or system is the goal. 
  • Exceptional leadership, facilitation, and organizational skills - run fast while juggling.🤹‍♂️
  • An analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities.🔎
  • Excellent communication skills; written, verbal, and visual.
  • Humble curiosity, self-driven learner, and general agile mindset to all the things.
