We're recruiting a Senior Engineer to join our product team at Ukoru.
This is a rare opportunity to join a small, 100% remote, profitable and ambitious company that also appreciates that there's more to work than revenue (!).
At Ukoru, we're:
- Fueled by the passion and exceptional talent of a successful start-up
- Hungry to amaze our customers and grow the business
- Always looking to grow as iniduals and a team
- AND Focused on doing it all without unnecessary stress, and with a healthy work-life balance
If you're a software developer who moves quickly and values code quality, wants to grow by working in a small and experienced team, and loves helping real customers to achieve their goals... then read on!
IMPORTANT: Ukoru's our latest product and is only just starting to be tested with customers, so we don't have much of a web presence yet. If you'd like to read reviews from our customers and employees, search for our other products: Spidergap and AirManual.
What we do
We're the team behind Spidergap and AirManual — both top-rated B2B SaaS products. We're now working on Ukoru — an ambitious new platform with the mission to transform how businesses manage people.
Ukoru
At Ukoru, we're developing a platform to support:
- Employees getting feedback and growing as iniduals
- Teams creating processes that deliver results with minimal stress
- Businesses scaling this up whether they have 10 people or 10,000+
Right now, we're prototyping and rapidly iterating on designs with the help of hundreds of our existing customers.
As an engineering team, we're working in a greenfield environment — using the latest and greatest technologies (e.g. NestJS, Tanstack Start, Tiptap, Hocuspocus, OpenAI) and unhindered by legacy constraints.
Spidergap
Spidergap is a 360° Feedback platform — a tool that lets you collect feedback about an employee from their peers, managers, and direct reports.
We've been the top-rated 360° Feedback tool since 2017, which we've achieved by:
- Designing a revolutionary feedback report, that makes it really easy for employees to review and understand the feedback they receive
- Creating a platform that's super-customizable to the needs of different organizations
- Providing world-class support that customers rave about
We're used in 134+ countries and by thousands of organizations including Samsung, 3M, Sony, the NHS, the European Commission, Breville, Konica Minolta and Philips.
AirManual
We created AirManual in 2020 with the goal of helping other businesses to scale up, without constant stress. We provide tools for documenting and automating processes, working together in teams, and reviewing the health of the entire business.
We're supporting over 100 businesses, including big names such as Asahi Beer and with particular traction in the Accountancy market. As with Spidergap, we consistently get exceptionally positive reviews.
We expect to incorporate and build on AirManual's features and benefits in Ukoru.
Requirements
We're looking for someone who's a great fit for our company values, and who can bring the technical talent needed in this specific role.
Do you share our values?
We're looking for people who share our values:
- Focus on impact: We know our growth is dependent on increasing the value we deliver to customers. We focus our energy on improvements that will make a real difference, with a desired outcome made clear up-front. We expect everyone to understand why they are working on a particular activity or objective, being clear on how it will benefit the business and our customers.
- Be proactive and dependable: Everyone can solve problems and remove barriers to growth — both personally and for the company. We are quick to raise issues and ideas, and to recommend next steps. We make it easier for others to feel they can depend on us by being proactive in our communication and action.
- Pay attention to detail: We believe the quality of everything we do is a competitive advantage. We expect high attention-to-detail, whether it's in how we write an email, review our analytics, or design the site. We delight in getting the details right, even in internal documents. High attention to detail isn't something you turn on and off — it's an attitude.
- Always look to improve: We survive and grow by constantly looking for opportunities to improve our solutions, our processes and ourselves. We own our mistakes, using them as an opportunity to learn what changes we should make to processes and tools. We expect our people to proactively look for opportunities to develop and improve our own performance.
- Enjoy the journey: We consider our health and families to be more important than work. We ensure no-one feels that they are frequently required to work excessive hours. We support each other in overcoming problems and achieving work and life goals. We're positive and enthusiastic — helping everyone feel energized to take us to the next level. We don't pin our happiness on the attainment of a particular end goal — we delight in each step along the way.
We don't just ‘say' these are our values. We use them all the time — to recruit the right people, manage inidual performance, recognize good practice, and make decisions.
Is the role right for you?
A large part of the work will be developing and supporting new functionality using TypeScript, NodeJS, React and Postgres.
We follow "clean" code principles, agile processes and continuous integration tools to efficiently take features from concept to roll-out, and to continuously optimize our processes. Your attention to detail will help us to amaze our customers, and to grow our services and codebase in a robust and maintainable way.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate to deliver solutions from design to release
- Write reliable, modular, well-tested and "clean" code
- Proactively raise ideas and issues, contributing to designs with feedback and suggestions for improvement

- Ensure progress, issues and ideas are communicated clearly to the right people
- Help us to deliver outstanding customer support.
Tech stack (Ukoru)
We expect the majority of your time to be spent working on Ukoru, which uses:
- TypeScript
- React (Tanstack Start)
- Node.js (NestJS)
- Hocuspocus/yjs for real time collaboration
- Postgres
From time-to-time, you may also need to support our existing Spidergap and AirManual apps — we look to spread knowledge and expertise across the team, so no-one has to work when they're on holiday or sick! These platforms include legacy solutions developed with Express, Create React App, AngularJS, Loopback, PHP and MySQL.

At Toggl, we’re a remote, async-first company with a strong hiring culture, and we’re looking for someone who doesn’t just do recruiting, but loves it. Someone who wants to stay in Talent, own the full hiring experience, and help shape how a company grows from the inside out.
The starting salary for this position is €40,000 annually.
You can work from anywhere in Europe.
About the Team
We are a global team of 140+ awesome people working from over 40 countries around the globe. We hire globally, you work locally - in the heart of London, a beach outside of São Paulo, or a quiet village near Florence, the choice is yours. Every few months we travel to meet up somewhere in the world and spend some quality time together. We place a huge amount of trust in our people, and we measure the outcomes rather than the work itself. Our values fuel our results.
About the Role
We believe hiring isn’t just about filling roles, it’s one of the most impactful ways we shape the future of our company. As our Talent Acquisition Specialist, you’ll take full ownership of recruiting operations, working closely with hiring managers and candidates across all teams: Product, Engineering, Revenue, Operations, and beyond.
From first outreach to signed offer to onboarding (and, sometimes, offboarding), you’ll run the entire execution process. You won’t be just a scheduler or a sourcer - you’ll be a decision-maker, a partner, and a champion for thoughtful hiring.
This role sits within our small People team of three (four including you!). You’ll report to our Talent & Innovation Lead, who focuses on talent structure and strategy, while you take the lead on execution and continuous improvement of our hiring operations. You’ll have real ownership, high trust, and room to innovate.
How we hire at Toggl
Our hiring process doesn’t follow the traditional playbook. Instead of CVs or cover letters, we lean on structured skill tests, async video answers, and real assignments. We’re looking for someone eager to embrace this approach and curious about experimenting with a process built to be fair, async‑friendly, and candidate‑centric.
What you’ll do
- Manage full-cycle recruiting globally, from sourcing and screening to interviews, offers, and onboarding
- Build and nurture strong pipelines for active and future roles
- Be a trusted partner to hiring managers: advising, challenging, and collaborating throughout each hire
- Promote our roles and brand creatively, across job boards, communities, and networks
- Own the candidate experience end-to-end, ensuring clarity, empathy, and timely communication
- Keep our ATS tidy and up to date, with clear metrics and documentation
- Manage expectations for internal hiring teams and exec members to maintain hiring standards and velocity
- Lead the contracting process, handling hiring docs and preboarding admin
- Manage the operational side of onboarding and offboarding, ensuring smooth transitions for all team members
What you won’t be doing
❌ Generalist People Ops. This role is 100% focused on Talent and hiring.
About You
You thrive in lean, async-first teams and want to grow as a recruiter. You already have solid experience but are eager to sharpen your craft and take more ownership.
We’d love to hear from you if:
- You have around 2 years of full-cycle recruiting experience in fast-growing, remote tech companies (bonus if it’s in SaaS)
- You’re excited to move beyond standard recruiting practices (CVs, cover letters, gut feel) and embrace Toggl’s structured, async-first approach to hiring
- You’ve hired across different functions and feel comfortable juggling multiple pipelines
- You care about candidates, not just conversion rates
- You’re structured, fast-moving, and meticulous, with a natural attention to detail
- You’re at ease with tools like ATS, HCM, Slack, Notion, and GDocs
- You communicate clearly and frequently, especially in writing
- You take initiative and love solving problems independently
Benefits
- Freedom to choose when and how much you work - we only measure results
- 24 days of paid time off a year, plus your local holidays
- Unlimited sick leave
- In-person meetups for team-building (expenses covered)
- 4-6 weeks paid sabbatical (depending on the tenure)
- Laptop budget up to €2,500 and it renews every 3 years
- €2,000 budget to set up your home office, and additional €300 every year after 3 years of tenure
- €3,000 per year for co-working space membership and/or internet service at home
- €4,000 per year contribution to use for training, workshops, and conferences
- €2,400 per year contribution for any equipment or services to improve and/or maintain your physical and mental health
- Support for buying tools you need for doing your best work (even eyeglasses if you need a new pair)

- Self-directed. You manage your own time well and can drive your own projects in a remote team.
Our AI policy

- If you need AI to handle the research or the writing, this role isn't for you.
- AI can't spot the best courses. You have to find and test them yourself.

- Is learning new things like crack to you?
- Is the prospect of entrepreneurship exciting but also pretty scary, so you've opt for safer choices?
- Do you thrive in a high-stress environment filled with political infighting, bureaucracy, and corporate nonsense?
If so, then we are the place for you, except you might hate how nice of a company we have - filled with happy, generally competent people that don’t put up with jerks. Frankly, it makes me sick how nice everyone is.
We are remote full time, have very flexible hours, people are judged by their output, not by how much they suck up to the boss, and turnover is super low because the company believes that happy employees = happy customers = happy bank account. Simply disgusting, if you ask me.
--Is this a real job ad?--
Yup! Amazingly enough, we actually paid money to post this on a bunch of different job sites. And it’s not even a pyramid scheme! Plus, get this: the owner just started paying our 70ish employees with money instead of Pizza Hut coupons - we’re big time, people.
Our careers page is actually worth checking out to learn more about how insane we are (sidenote: it won a web design award in 1993 - we’re a pretty big deal):
http://www.jlstradingco.com/careers/
And check out our reviews on Google, Glassdoor, or Indeed to see that it’s not just the founder’s mother who says we’re cool.
--What do you guys do?--
We do a lot of different things these days including selling awesome consumer products (these are just a small sampling):
- Bad Parking Cards (https://amz.run/5Eya)
- Beverage Barricades (https://amz.run/6kip)
- Child Chucker (https://amz.run/9EUz)
Running this Amazon Pay-Per-Click agency: PPCFarm.com (we’re really, really good at PPC)
And we will soon be launching a SaaS product for inventory management.
We are doing our best to grow rapidly every year, and it’s our intention to continue that for as long as possible, which means we need good people to help us keep up with the growth.
--What is your company like?--
1. You Can Be Yourself. You don’t have to put on a fake, professional face. You can just be yourself. You can talk smack to the CEO (highly encouraged), and no one will think anything of it. You don't have to dress up, or use formal language, or pretend to be something you're not - you can just be you.
2. Major Opportunities for Career Growth. We are not trying to just be a small business. We plan to be doing $100 million annually in the next few years. We promote quickly once we identify talent. It doesn’t matter what your credentials are – it matters what you get done.
3. Full Time Remote/Flexible Hours. You will be working from home in your pajamas, on your schedule. And we don’t care if you work 10 hour days 4 days a week or 6 hours a day and catch up over the weekend. So long as you get a lot of work done, we’re happy campers.
4. Complete Work/Life Balance. If you’re routinely working more than 45ish hours, you’re gonna get a friendly talking-to. We want you to be operating at 100% capacity, which means that you need to rest.
5. Strongly Anti-BS. Anybody in the company can (and is expected to) tell the CEO when he is wrong. There are no bureaucratic or BS rules getting in the way of getting work done.
6. No Micro-Management. Once you’re trained and have demonstrated you know your stuff, we are pretty hands-off. In fact, if you need external management to stay on-task and motivated, we probably aren’t the place for you.
7. No Toxic/Incompetent People Allowed. We try very hard to screen out mean or stupid people before they get in, but in case they slip through, we fire them quickly. You will never have to interact with someone who is an obvious idiot or straight up malicious. No toxic or incompetent people at work - could it really be? [Yes]
8. Supportive Environment. We don’t operate via intense stress or unreasonable top-down deadlines. Everyone wants you to be successful – internal politics are at a minimum here.
9. Lots of Raises. We do our absolute best to get ahead of things and give raises preemptively, so you don't have to ask for one. It's not unusual at all for someone to receive 2+ raises per year.
10. We’ll Invest in Your Training. We want you and everyone to get better constantly. You’ll be learning new things all the time, and are strongly encouraged to invest time every day to learn new things, improve your system/work process, and just generally try to make your life easier.
11. 4-6+ Weeks Vacation. We 100% want you to recharge, so having plenty of time off is absolutely worth it.
12. Paid Maternity/Paternity Leave. We’ve even started letting people skip meetings during labor!
13. Self-Funded So We Can Do What’s Right for Us. We don’t have to answer to anyone but ourselves, so we can make the right decision for the long-term health of the company vs trying to get big too fast or cut corners to appease some selfish investor.
--What are your company’s values?--
See here: http://www.jlstradingco.com/careers/
Yes, those are legitimately our values. The careers page is definitely worth checking out - it’s not just normal corporate BS. We promise you’ll learn a lot about us.
--OK, so I’ve read like 8 dang pages about you guys. Will you tell me what the actual job is?--
No.
--Wait... What?--
OK fine. Super short version:
Learning like crazy in order to set you up to be an internal entrepreneur (intrapreneur) to take on some business opportunity.
To prepare for entrepreneurship though, you are going to become a generalist. Our best people are almost all generalists, who can tackle any problem thrown at them. I want you to become one of them.
Another way of describing things is that you’re going to become the ultimate problem solver.
We’re gonna test you, teach you, and put you on progressively harder projects as you gain skills and demonstrate capability. We might eventually ask you to:
- Go find a new vendor for X
- Recommend a solution for expanding our warehouse space
- Figure out the basics of marketing channel Y so we can hire for it
- Build a complex Google Sheets tool
- Create a video for product Z
- Launch our products on Amazon UK
- Figure out who we should talk to get into retail
Things like that. There won’t generally be an SOP - you’re just gonna have to figure it out on your own.
The ability to figure things out independently at a high level is a rare one, and the more people we have in the company with the ability, the better off we’ll be.
The ultimate goal is to give you a well-rounded education and then throw you at some mutually beneficial entrepreneurial opportunity that excites you.
--Why are you doing this?--
Hiring really good people is really, really hard. We’ve tried hiring senior people in the past and have failed almost every time. What’s worked in the past is hiring junior/mid-level folks, training them, and letting them run free. So, we formalized this into an official apprentice program which has worked out wonderfully.
--Why do you need internal entrepreneurs?--
Video of our founder explaining the situation/opportunity some more.
--Do I need experience?--
We expect you to have a minimum of 70 years of experience (120+ preferred).
Oh, you haven't lived two lifetimes eating and breathing business 24/7/365? Who TF do you think you are, reading this job description? You complete buffoon.
Oh, you haven't been directly involved in at least two (preferably three) World Wars? You're not even qualified to operate our coffee machine, you sentient potato.
Oh, you didn't observe the Big Bang as it happened? Get out of here, you pirated copy of Windows 95.
I might throw up from your arrogance. The hubris to think that you, an absolute fool, could apply for an apprentice position... sickening. I’m literally shaking right now.
Also, no you don't need any experience.
We want special people, and don’t give AF what their background is. Most of our best people did nothing remotely related to their current roles, so if you've never done anything like this before, don't sweat it. We hire 100x more for potential than existing knowledge.
The Big Bang requirement still stands though.
--Do I need a college degree?--
You just need to be awesome.
--Is this just for beginners?--
Definitely not. We have amazing apprentices of all ages and experience levels, and this is no exception.
--Are there any geographic restrictions?--
As long as you are in a country that doesn’t have active sanctions from the US government, we are interested. Our founder isn’t known for respecting the government much, but they have all the guns, so…
--This sounds completely ridiculous and fake--
Definitely fair. Check us out online and decide for yourself.
Spoiler: It’s not fake, we’re just led by a crazy person (he insists on “eccentric,” but we all know what that really means).
--This sounds pretty good, though I’m still skeptical that this isn’t a pyramid scheme.--
You sound just like the tax authorities!
--That doesn’t resolve any of my fears, but what do I need to do to apply?--
Please submit your information on the following page to apply. We promise to respond within 5-10 business days even if our answer is No.
There will be multiple steps in this process, FYI, including a long written application, interviews with potentially a few different people, and paid work test(s). Hiring the right people is really hard and very expensive if we do it poorly, so we have to front-load the process. I'm sorry about that and thank you for sticking with us.
Once you’re in our pipeline though, I would anticipate giving you a final answer within a few weeks, depending on how it goes. We definitely don’t want to string you along, and as long as you do what we ask, we promise to tell you “yes” or “no”, and to not just ghost you (like everybody I match with on Tinder).
Thank you for your time and interest, and I hope we can work together soon!

We’re building a next-gen AI girlfriend startup—and we need someone obsessed with finding what’s next in generative AI.
Your task: Find the latest GenAI tools (chat, image, video, voice), test them hands-on, break them, study their docs, measure costs and limits, and report back: is it viable for us or not?
This is R&D meets trendspotting. Think Matt Wolfe with a development background.
What You'll Actually Do (you should be doing this already)
- Spot the most promising tools by crawling Reddit, X, YouTube, Discord, Hacker News, etc.
- Test them rigorously: understand strengths, limits, pricing, latency, and API availability
- Compare tools in structured reports—backed with screenshots, short demos, and bullet-point takeaways
- Summarize findings for fast decision-making: viability, use case fit, and potential for integration
You’re Perfect If:
- You love playing with AI tools, reading their docs, testing edge cases, and thinking about implementation
- You’re technical enough to ask the right questions—even if you’re not a full-on dev
- Bonus: You already follow AI YouTubers, Discords, or newsletters religiously
How to Apply (Video Applications Only)
⚠️ This is the only thing we evaluate.
- In the attached form, you’ll be asked to record a 2–3 minute screen-share (camera on) – Loom is easiest.
- You need to answer this: Show a recent testing/review you did on an AI tool or tech. How did you test it, and how did it compare to 3–5 alternatives?
