The Role

Circular’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of the circular economy, initially through offering consumers access to subscription consumer electronics. In order to succeed, it is critical that we effectively change entrenched mindsets around ownership such that a good-sized cohort of viable customers come to believe that “subscribing with Circular is better than buying”. Understanding potential customers, educating them, and building trust in our product is essential to Circular.

We are looking for a Head of Marketing to lead the effort to achieve this goal. The Head of Marketing will be a full member of Circular’s executive team (Senior Leadership Team), reporting to the COO.

At Circular, we believe that marketing’s role does not stop when a potential customer lands on our website, but rather than effective marketing is infused into the full customer and product experience. The Head of Marketing will therefore work in close collaboration with cross-functional colleagues to develop and execute a marketing strategy that is well integrated with the broader product and business.

Key Responsibilities

As with any executive role, the actual duties come down to “whatever it takes to make the function successful,” but some sample responsibilities include:

* Developing and refining our understanding of ideal customer segments and their characteristics

* Defining and executing a brand strategy across the entire business.
* Defining and executing a channel strategy.
* Championing the voice of the customer in interactions with product, operations, customer service, and customer experience.
* Ensuring that marketing activity is built on a foundation of meaningful tracking and attribution.
* Building a small but high-functioning marketing team (org and role definition, hiring/firing, people management).
* Defining a Marketing Operations structure that allows marketing activities to be executed efficiently and reliably.
* Working as a member of the Circular SLT to further the interests of the business.

Requirements

Knowledge

* Understanding of the various aspects of a product-driven technology company.

* Knowledge of marketing analytics and attribution principles and tools.
* Broad knowledge of different marketing channels, how they work together.
* Broad knowledge of the martech tooling landscape.

Skills

* Excellent communication: verbal and written.

* Solid project management skills / able to lead complex programs of work.
* Proven record of formulating and executing brand and channel strategies.
* Customer and market segmentation.
* High level of financial literacy.
* Able to coach and manage people.
* Strong numeracy skills and ability to interrogate and interpret data accurately
