What do we do?

Chainflip is a blockchain project that uses multi-party-computation and threshold signature schemes to allow our decentralised validator network to secure assets across multiple arbitrarily differentiated blockchain networks, with the ultimate goal of allowing users to swap between various cryptocurrencies across multiple blockchains in a trustless and programmatic way.

This is a very tightly coupled engineering challenge, one that we’ve been working on for over a year. It is a multidisciplinary exercise in distributed systems, decentralised finance, blockchain consensus mechanisms, cyber security, applied cryptography, and front end tooling. Our engineering team of 15 is on the lookout for additional people to tackle this challenge with us. We’re mostly based in Berlin, Germany. This job listing is for our new office set up in Dublin, Ireland to work with our sister company, JIT Strategies, which is a validator operations and high frequency trading company.

Whats the Job?

We are seeking a Systme Adminstrator/Devops Engineer to join our team to help us operate over 50 inidual validator nodes, a high frequency trading deployment, and to assist in analyse our security at different levels of the stack and protocol.

  • Architect our server-side deployment automation systems and package distribution for node operators Research and develop our approach to security solutions within the server side-software component of the protocol
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain nodes on our validator network, web application, and supporting infrastructure such as monitoring, CI, and analytics tools.
  • Analyse and develop strategies to improve the server-side security of our validator node software and the validator network in general
  • Develop mitigating strategies and monitoring tools to combat against network attacks
  • Design and develop secure mechanisms for key management and signing
  • Much of our backend technology stack relies heavily on our own Rust based software which includes p2p networking, consensus mechanisms, blockchain technology, and cryptography. We also use Substrate, Solidity, and a variety of other tools and frameworks to achieve the product result.

For this role, you will have a professional history in System Administration, a competent operator of Linux server systems, and will be at least reasonably competent with any programming language. You will have working in software professionally for at least 2 years.

You will work with the existing engineering team of 20 alongside our very experienced CTO Tom Nash. You will be supported throughout your tenure at Chainflip to learn, try new things, and above all become a subject matter expert in some of the most interesting technologies in software today.

The Process

Please send your CV to [email protected]. A screening call will be conducted by our operations manager. For our engineering or technical roles, the first stage is a 1hr remote code interview run by our existing engineering team in a language of your choice. Following this you will have a more informal meeting with some other members of the team.

This is a key hire, so we are willing to move quickly for the right person.

If you have any questions about the role, you can email [email protected].

We look forward to hearing from you and hope that you join us on our journey.
