Title: Senior Frontend Engineer

Location: Americas Remote

Hi, I’m Darlene, Engineering Manager at Customer.io. I’m looking for a product-minded Senior Front-End Engineer to help us empower companies build meaningful conversations with their customers.

As a customer engagement platform, one of our biggest challenges is to turn complex concepts and workflows into fast, accessible and intuitive interfaces. And in this role, you’ll have a direct impact on the product with a high degree of ownership and freedom.

Our small, remote-first team is fun-loving, passionate and highly effective. As a distributed company we are committed to giving you the flexibility and freedom to work from anywhere in the world, on a schedule that fits your family and your life. We genuinely value ersity (one of our core values is awkwardness for a reason). We believe that embracing unique perspectives and expertise is key to our success as a collaborative team.

Thus we understand that you might not have all the skills listed below, that’s okay. If you have a combination of some of the items and you’re interested in developing the others, we want to hear from you!

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with the product, design, and backend engineering teams throughout the conception and development of front-end features,
  • Develop maintainable, performant and well-tested UIs that help our customers easily send timely & relevant messages at scale,
  • Contribute to our extensive design and component systems,
  • Work with our tech support teams to diagnose operational issues and help our customers to achieve their goals with our product,
  • Learn, practice, and share with your coworkers through code review, pair programming, team collaboration, and training to help improve our collective knowledge and best practices together.

What we’re looking for:

  • Preferably 7+ years of relevant experience
  • A collaborative mindset backed by excellent communication skills and a desire to help us make great decisions in an empathetic and respectful way,
  • Large experience using front-end technologies like JavaScript and CSS to build complex web applications. Ember.js experience is nice to have, but most of our engineers have succeeded while picking it up on the job,
  • A solid understanding of how to create front-end web applications that are both accessible and performant,
  • Comfort working in UNIX environments and applying modern collaborative development practices,
  • Experience working with customers and applying a deep understanding of their needs to produce timely solutions to their real-world problems,
  • Experience working within a distributed company is preferred.
