Web Developer

We are looking for a passionate web developer to join us in working on a number of projects to provide new functionalities to our customer-facing applications and internal systems.

 

You will be working alongside highly skilled and motivated cross-functional teams to ensure the highest quality software that is well tested, ensuring the functionality of your code meets expectations.

 

What will you be doing?

  • The Web Developer is responsible for analysing user and system requirements, structuring the application and providing support throughout all phases of the development lifecycle.

  • You will be writing efficient code based on feature specifications.

  • You will be in deep with object-oriented design (OOD), design patterns and software design best practices.

  • You will also be implementing and adding to Agile and XP practices.

 

Key deliverables within the first 12/18 months in the role:

  • Fully up-to-speed with our software products and contribute to feature development supporting marketing, content and ops teams.

  • Contribute to platform architecture improvement.

  • Develop, improve and integrate new features and systems.

 

Our Products & Stack:

  • Macademia operates 2 family and child brands: Azoomee and Da Vinci.

  • Our mobile products are written in C++ using the Cocos 2dx engine

  • Our web applications are developed with HTML5 technologies such as Typescript, Javascript, React and NodeJS.

  • Our backend is a set of microservices written in Java / Spring Boot which expose a rest API

  • Everything runs on AWS and we are big on automation and infrastructure as code

  • We have a few products built by 3rd parties on top of our API and use standard marketing and instrumentation tools to get customer insight

 

What about you, what do you need to bring/have?

  • Experience working as a HTML Developer, Front-End Developer or similar role.

  • Good knowledge of web based product development.

  • Problem-solving ability and the initiative to work independently.

  • HTML, JavaScript, Typescript

  • An ability and desire to learn new skills quickly

  • Self-motivated, can work autonomously

  • Interested in learning new technologies, particularly media/games

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

 

Nice to Have

These are not requirements for the role but maybe beneficial;

  • NodeJS, React, Webpack, Angular

  • AWS Services such as S3, Cloudwatch, etc.

  • Git

  • Jenkins

  • Agile experience using Scrum techniques and JIRA/Confluence.
