Shift4 is looking to hire a talented Ruby-on-Rails developer to join its rapidly-growing team which is currently engaged in building and expanding an ecosystem of web applications for the organization’s employees and sales partners. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the server-side logic for the central database, testing performance, troubleshooting, and building front-end elements to streamline the user experience.

Ultimately, a top-level Ruby-on-Rails developer can create clean, functional code in a fast-paced environment to help achieve company objectives around customer onboarding.

  • Developing new features and scaling existing web applications
  • Supporting existing applications with bug fixes and future-proofing updates
  • Writing and maintaining reliable Ruby code.
  • Integrating data storage solutions.
  • Creating back-end components.
  • Identifying and fixing bottlenecks and bugs.
  • Integrating user-facing elements designed by the front-end team.
  • Connecting applications with additional web servers.
  • Maintaining APIs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
  • Experience working with ruby on rails as well as libraries like Resque and RSpec.
  • Ability to write clean ruby code.
  • Proficiency with code versioning tools including Git / Gitlab.
  • Experience with NodeJS / ReactJS.
  • Familiarity with MVC, Mocking, RESTful, and ORM.
  • Good understanding of front-end technologies including HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3.
  • Working knowledge of Postgres databases a plus, including real-world use of pgAdmin.
  • Familiarity working within a structured SDLC using Scrum / Kanban.
  • Experience using project management tools such as Jira, Confluence.
