Hi! I'm Erez. I run ZSA. We're a small company making good keyboards. We're fully distributed, with people from Thailand, South Africa, the US, Canada, Croatia, and more.
You, I hope, are not a ninja, nor a rockstar. I hope you're a nice person, and also a good programmer with an eye for detail. You can be from anywhere in the world.
Things I hope you're very good at
- Communicating in writing.
- Learning new things.
- Working with AI dev tools in a sane way, and sharing your workflows.
- React (bonus if you know mobX State Tree).
- CSS (Sass and/or Styled Components)
- Rigorously QAing your own work
- Asking good questions
What's good about this job
You will be primarily responsible for ZSA.io and typ.ing. ZSA.io a custom-built eCommerce site (next.js). Shopify has featured it in several keynote presentations alongside brands like Allbirds. Typ.ing is a next-gen typing trainer, clean and fun.
Because we're so small, your work is going to make a big difference. We don't have a QA tester — you will QA your own work. That's why attention to detail is so important.
Things we don't do:
- We don't have daily standups. We have meetings when we need them.
- We don't do any sort of invasive employee monitoring like time or activity tracking.
- We don't have investors, so we only think about our customers in everything we do, not about "shareholders".
- We don't advertise or work with influencers (read more on our Why Trust Us page).
- We don't obsess over analytics and funnels. We talk to real people and value qualitative feedback to guide our work.
Things we do:
- Trust the team.
- Work together. Collaboration is tight, over text (Telegram is our platform of choice).
- Specify work accurately, ahead of time, with high-fidelity mockups in Figma and well-defined written work items.
- Have clear acceptance criteria ("definition of done").
- Review every PR.
- Care about tech debt and take the time to address it.
How the hiring process works
If this role sounds interesting, please fill out our questionnaire, linked below. Please do not email me a resume.
If you seem like a good fit, I will reach out (me, personally — not some HR person or a hiring team). Then we'll have a call.
If after the call we both want to proceed, you will do a short, paid test project (two weeks).
If after the test project we're both still happy, you will begin a fully paid trial period. This is two months with ZSA, working with the whole team, drawing full pay, doing real work.
If after the trial period we're all happy, you will become a full-fledged member of ZSA. Once that happens, turnover is typically exceedingly low — people tend to stay and grow with us for years.
Thanks for getting this far,
Erez

We don't just build; we innovate, we experiment, and we have fun doing it. We're big on using open-source tech and contributing back when it makes sense. If you're looking to join a team that knows when to work and when to sweat the details, we're your people.
**Who You Are
**You're a tech adventurer with at least 5 years of experience who can write killer code, crack a joke, and doesn't break into a cold sweat when someone says "git rebase." You know when to move fast, when to slow down, and - if not - you're willing to learn the difference. If you find generative AI coding assistants amusingly dumb in the wrong hands but jaw-droppingly powerful in the right ones—come on in.
**What You Bring to the Table
**- Languages: Proficiency in Ruby/Ruby on Rails is essential. Bonus points if you can tango with JavaScript/TS, Python, Go, Rust, or Zig.
- Web App Mastery: You get the web stack: from HTTP/TCP to Websockets, HTML, HTMX, and enough CSS to not break things.
- ORM Savvy: You can use one, but you're happier slinging SQL yourself.
- UI/UX Sense: You appreciate good design, even if your idea of a palette is "light mode or dark mode?"
- Git Ninja: You know your way around git rebase and git merge without needing a counselor.
- Fast Learner: You're excited to play with shiny new tech and can get shit done without needing a babysitter.
- Team Player: You'll work closely with our experienced CTO, soaking up knowledge and contributing your own wizardry.
**Bonus Points if You
**- Have dabbled with LLMs, training models, or Agentic workflows
- Understand that "scrappy" isn't just a dog—it's a way of life
- Think contributing to open source isn't just cool; it's the right thing to do
**What You'll Be Doing
**- Collaborating with the CTO to build, optimize, and scale core products
- Writing robust, maintainable code across our stack
- Engaging in building and fine-tuning workflows that may involve generative AI pipelines
- Innovating within our open-source-first ecosystem and making meaningful contributions back
- Balancing the act of moving fast vs. being careful (sometimes on the same day)
**Why You'll Love Working With Us
**- Ground Floor Vibes: Early-stage startup with room to grow and learn
- Flexibility: Work where you're most productive
- A Fun Bunch: We mean business but aren't afraid to crack a joke
- Tech Playground: We don't just use the latest tech; we experiment and build it

We ❤️ small scaling businesses. Since 2013, we’ve been building a CRM that focuses on better communication, without the hassle of manual data entry or a complex UI. We are out to supercharge sales productivity with the most modern, thoughtfully all-in-one, AI-powered, and communication-focused CRM.
Our app’s frontend is a single-page TypeScript web app mostly written in React (originally built with Backbone.js). Our mobile app is built using React Native. Our UI updates in near real-time and is styled via CSS modules and takes advantage of fun technologies like Websockets and WebRTC.
We care about performance (e.g. route-based code splitting or skeleton UI), maintainability, and testability of our frontend code. Our product development process is inspired by Shape Up. We sweat the UI/UX details and work collaboratively with the Product team throughout the design process.
