Senior Manager, Creative Strategy

Team Whistle is looking for a Senior Manager, Creative Strategy. In this role, the candidate will lead the creation of brand strategy and brief development against Whistle’s partner RFPs and branded content executions..

This candidate must be a team player and collaborator who will work closely with our Insights, Marketing, Sales, Account Management, Talent, Production, Post Production, and Social teams to ensure our pitches, ideas, and activations are on brief, on strategy and on trend.

Do you eat, sleep, and breathe internet culture? Are you passionate about publishers and content creators on social and can summarize how and why certain videos blow up — where did they take off, what makes them special, why are they worth sharing?

We’re looking for a key player on the content team who can lead multiple client projects at once and is enthusiastic about social media and all things culture — someone who is a data-obsessed self-starter with excellent judgment and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for full funnel and life cycle of branded content from ideation to execution, to be best in class as an industry leader across our primary channels of TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat, Meta (FB + IG), and emerging platforms (Twitch, etc.) along with athletes, celebrities, creators, and brands we partner with
  • Leads the translation of partner RFPs into sports-culture strategy and insights that the creative team can use to develop breakthrough ideas
  • Leads strategy development in the pre and post sale process and attends shoots to ensure ideas come to life on brief, on strategy and on trend
  • When unavailable to be on set, responsible for oversight of the creative team, arming them with insights, best practices, and direction that align with client KPI’s and brand campaign messaging
  • Act as strategy lead in client meetings, on-set and in post production being the first to give notes on social cuts
  • Partner with Account Management and marketing leads to ensure social RFPs are answered on brief and on deadline
  • Lead social brainstorms with cross-functional teams for both client-facing and original projects
  • Lead talent briefing and pre-production calls for social-led creative
  • Partner with talent team to identify and contract talent for influencer-led campaigns
  • Working with the insights team – ensuring KPIs are being met attached to original show viewership, earned media attention, and indirect/direct brand sales revenue
  • Stay on top of latest cultural and platform trends, competitor best practices, and innovative marketing approaches to guide the creative and integrated marketing teams
  • Use operational tools such as Trello to manage output and planning of editorial/social short form content across all Whistle’s owned and operated channels as well as for partners and client
  • Deep enthusiasm for experimenting with strategy, content and trend analysis to improve for essential metrics along with passion for sports, entertainment, and creators
  • Knowledge of the online video ecosystem, and experience with Snapchat, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok Facebook, and Reddit
  • Be at the cutting edge of the cultural zeitgeist; understanding internet, social and meme culture and how to credibly and sensitively work within it whilst maintaining brand safety

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Must be fluent in all social platforms, including engagement best practices, formats, specs and paid promotion opportunities
  • Expert on the publisher landscape, and quickly able to explain difference in tone and voice of different publisher and partner brands on social
  • Eager to learn and support team members as well as lead the rest of the team with a positive can’t stop won’t stop attitude
  • Expert knowledge of sports-culture
  • 5+ years experience in brand or creative strategy for a publisher, agency or brand
  • Comfortable with talent- and client-facing reports and coordination – account management experience a plus
  • Experience working with creative teams, especially video editors and designers
  • Fluent with social analytics tools such as IG & TikTok Insights, YouTube Analytics, Twitter Analytics, Simply Measured
