350.org is looking for a Director of Inidual Giving to lead a high-performing team to develop innovative fundraising strategies and explore new opportunities.

About the Director of Inidual Giving

The Director of Inidual Giving is responsible for developing and implementing a strategy to grow our inidual income revenue stream in support of our organisational strategy, and in alignment with our culture, mission and values. The Director of Inidual Giving will oversee four members of the Fundraising team, manage a vital cross-functional project, and provide leadership to all staff, fostering a culture of collaboration.

They will be accountable to the Executive Team (reporting to the Head of Public Engagement) for achieving a target of $10m revenue via established programmes for cultivating Major Donors, family foundations and employee giving; a new, branded Mid-level Donor programme, and ongoing collaboration with our Digital Fundraising team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management

    • Inspire, support, and manage a team of fundraising professionals to ensure that the $20 million organisational budget is raised to support our mission-based work. Our aim is to raise at least half of this ($10 million annually) through inidual giving.
    • Working closely with the Executive Director and Department Head of Public Engagement, to develop and implement a multi-year strategy to ersify and grow inidual income streams supporting 350.org’s mission and its long-term goals, fiscal health, and organisation-wide priorities.
    • Lead and project manage a cross-team/multifunctional project to boost our inidual giving programme in the short- to medium-term.
    • Communicate the mission and vision of 350 in alignment with the organisation’s brand and communication strategy to cultivate and solicit funding from a multitude of donor sources.
    • Identify and deploy creative and innovative fundraising plans, tools and techniques that remain true to 350’s ideals and identity.
    • Implement and oversee the management of appropriate systems to improve fundraising functions, including but not limited to: donor management, forecasting, prospect and donor research, market trend analysis, and other stewardship efforts.
    • Establish performance measures, monitor and report on results, and support the Department Head of Public Engagement to evaluate the effectiveness of the organisation’s fundraising program.
    • Collaborate with the Global Finance Director to develop revenue projections, and monitor and report on progress on a monthly basis.
    • Assess fundraising risks, opportunities and trends and provide regular updates to the Executive Team
  • Engage with other Team Leads and staff to foster a culture of collaboration, ersity, equity and inclusion across the whole organisation.
    • The Director of Inidual Giving will oversee a team of four fundraisers. They are also expected to collaborate with Digital Fundraising and Digital Engagement specialists to support strategies that will increase online fundraising and support from small donors.
    • Required Skills and Competencies
    • Expert technical knowledge on how to grow a financial supporter base in new markets, with focus on inidual donors, in US, Europe plus others to be identified
    • Ability to design and deliver an Acquisition strategy for new supporters from all markets and a Retention strategy to consolidate our donor base particularly in the US.
    • Effective line management, support and development of staff
    • Capacity to influence leaders across the organisation to act in support of fundraising priorities
    • Ability to drive cross-functional team collaboration, and troubleshoot urgent requests with speed and skill
    • Capacity to assess external landscape, spot leads, pivot depending on what is/isn’t working
    • Exceptional communication skills to help engage donors especially around sensitive issues
    • Strong competence for streamlining systems, processes, ways of working
    • Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues from other departments

Required Qualifications

    • Believes in the importance of 350’s mission and values, has passion for the cause of building a powerful movement to fight climate change and create a more just world.
    • 10 years or more of experience in increasingly responsible positions in fundraising and nonprofit management.
    • A minimum of three years of senior level management experience, leading comprehensive fundraising programs.
    • Proficiency in the use of Salesforce and ActionKit, with an ability to analyse and interpret data.
    • Demonstrated success in raising significant gifts ($100,000+) from inidual donors and/or building out a successful broad-based donor programme, including from US and international donors;
    • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to inspire and motivate others toward stated goals.
    • Superior written and oral communications, interpersonal and presentation skills.
    • Entrepreneurial approach to building the fundraising function.
    • Highly sophisticated relationship building skills.
    • Demonstrated mastery of a wide range of fundraising techniques.
    • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
    • Highest level of personal and professional integrity.
    • Collaborative interpersonal style and high level of emotional intelligence.
    • Demonstrates an awareness of, and sensitivity to, the needs and concerns of iniduals from erse cultures, backgrounds and orientations.
    • Ability to demonstrate grace under pressure.
  • Ability to accommodate travel.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Certified Fundraising Executive certificate preferred.
    • We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.

Position Type: Full time, fixed term contract for 18 months, to be reviewed in December 2025.

Compensation: This position is at 350.org’s Salary Grade 4.1 compensated at $110,000

Location: This is a remote position that we expect to be based in the United States, where the bulk of our inidual donor base currently is. We can hire in the following states: CA, GA, MD, MA, ME, CO, MT, NY, NC, PA, SC, UT, VT, VA, WA, WI.
