Hello from Tallwave! We're a customer experience design company partnering with change agents at the world's most inspiring companies to create the experiences of the future. This includes developing new products, services, and business models that deliver amazing value and sustainable growth for their customers and employees. We deliver exceptional experiences for our client, the client's customer, and of course, our internal Tallwavers!

We're looking for a Product Design Strategist to join our Product Design & Innovation team. In this role, you'll partner with stakeholders on the client-side (e.g. Product Manager/Owner), taking a role in the strategic outlook of product design and development, ensuring that our clients are focused on all aspects of product design and development: the business needs, user needs, and the technology. In addition, you'll create the connection between the client-side and our Tallwave team, always ensuring a smooth process and great quality deliverables. You're also an educator, always striving to teach our clients about innovative product design methodologies and best practices.

Here's what a day in the life looks like:

  • Participating and conceptualizing, at a high level, in the product strategy and vision — not just visual ideas but what should we build, when, and why
  • Mentoring other members of the team, leading by example in craftsmanship, accountability, and behavior for the other members of the design team and Tallwave as a whole.
  • Working to gain a deep understanding of and participate in conversations around business goals/objectives, KPIs, pricing strategy, market, and the competitive landscape, defining the product/service and roadmap as well as the holistic strategy/ultimate goal for the product or service as well as planning a go-to-market strategy.
  • Providing strategic thinking and insight to client stakeholders, ensuring that all strategic areas are supported by research and documentation, such as: Buyer personas and/or user personas, experience/journey mapping, customer/user goals, needs, pain points, technical infrastructure, capabilities, and limitations, requirements documentation (e.g. user stories, req docs), design thinking/user-centered design methodologies; market and brand research and potential cross-departmental collaboration (design and dev, design and copy, etc.).
  • Initiating and supporting blue-sky thinking and disruptive innovation that may increase product performance and/or value to the market and developing a plan to bring it to life.
  • Leading the process of recommending, planning, creating, and facilitating applicable workshops.
  • Leading design projects across the entire product lifecycle and multiple product releases across one or more platforms, including, but not limited to: web, iOS, Android, Windows, etc.
  • Leading UX Research conversation and initiatives related to new feature validation and testing. existing feature performance and testing and ongoing optimization efforts.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 8-10 years of hands-on product design experience.
  • 4+ years of experience leading design on project team(s).
  • Excellent organization and project management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; Not afraid of speaking in larger groups.
  • Has a broad design, UX, and strategy toolkit and experience: design thinking and facilitation, lean UX, agile product development, experimentation, design systems, prototyping, and more.
  • Knowledge of designing for, and the technical constraints of, multiple platforms (web, iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, etc.).
  • Applied experience with design and prototyping tools, such as: Figma, Sketch, Abstract, InVision, Framer, Principle, etc.
  • Applied experience leading both primary and secondary research methodologies.
