Job Overview

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a UX Designer to lead designs for a number of products that enable insurance agencies’ to provide Employee Benefits coverage to their clients. Applied is an indispensable partner for independent insurance agencies, and we’re doubling down on our offering for agencies that provide Employee Benefits coverage to their clients. This UX Designer will be driving projects across multiple products, have an equal seat at the table with Product and Development, conduct primary user research, explore user requirements, vet user scenarios, sketch, mock and prototype solutions – all with the end goal of creating an amazing user experience throughout our suite of products for Employee Benefits personas.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop a strong understanding of the Employee Benefits insurance vertical and our users’ needs and motivations, so that you can advocate for our users day in and day out
  • Proactively take initiative to push projects forward to completion, own the details, and quickly become an expert
  • Coordinate and conduct both qualitative and quantitative user research, including formal Usability Testing to help us efficiently validate and iterate
  • Research and recommend the best interaction designs and UX best practices to follow
  • Bring product ideas to life with quick, well-reasoned wireframes, mockups, and prototypes
  • Articulate with ease the why behind your design decisions
  • Collaborate with the product and development teams as they implement the design into working code
  • Identify how to best leverage usage analytics in order to track and measure the success of our designs

What You’ll Need to Succeed

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office

Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  • 2+ years of experience in UX, preferably in a commercial software environment
  • Proficient in design and prototyping tools (Figma & FigJam are our primary tools)
  • Proficient with UX research
  • Experience working in an Agile software development teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience

Additionally, you may have:

  • Experience with the insurance industry and Employee Benefits is a plus, otherwise need to be a quick learner
