Overview

GitHub is searching for an enthusiastic Communications Specialist to join the Office of the CEO as an executive speechwriter. In this role, you will be directly responsible for helping us to craft compelling and creative stories in the Age of AI that drive interest and engagement back to the GitHub platform. All in all, we are looking for someone who loves putting pen to paper and seeing their words orated to audiences around the world.

Responsibilities

Supporting the Head of CEO Communications and Engagement, in this role you’ll be responsible for producing high-quality, written external and internal communications materials for both the CEO of GitHub and the Chief of Staff to the CEO, who sits on the GitHub Executive Leadership team. You will:

  • Support the Head of CEO communications by drafting internal and external communications and remarks for the CEO, producing high quality written materials in the CEO voice.
  • Support Head of CEO Communications in building, scaling and launching external and internal platform for the Chief of Staff to the CEO, focused on driving a unique and quality narrative in the evolving AI landscape.
  • Keep Office of the CEO, including the CEO, abreast of current news events with routine briefs.
  • Help craft external CEO speeches for international audiences, including writing remarks for audiences in technology, CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, government bodies and more.
  • Write drafts of blog posts and bylines in the CEO and Chief of Staff to CEO voice, including external product announcements and internal communications to GitHub staff.
  • Support Head of CEO communications in collaborating with stakeholders across the company to ensure cohesive narratives and messaging surrounding our flagship AI product, GitHub Copilot.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in executive communications or speechwriting for highly visible principals or executive teams
  • Direct experience working in government & politics or technology as a speechwriter, including writing remarks, opinion pieces, blog posts, and social media copy on behalf of an executive leader.
  • Ability to travel as needed (~25%).
  • Experience translating complex ideas into simplistic and compelling storytelling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Passion for and curiosity about the current AI landscape.
  • Love of writing. We will say it again: We are looking for someone who loves putting pen to paper and seeing their words orated to audiences around the world.

Compensation Range

USD $61,300.00 – USD $162,500.00 /Yr.

In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An inidual’s base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on inidual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
