ABOUT THE JOB:

Your role will be threefold:

  • Research oriented, prepared to e deep into the problem space and existing approaches across developer tools, but not afraid to break the mold and innovate when it serves our mission and users. Excited to go broad and explore before going deep.
  • An insightful problem solver, capable of autonomously defining and executing on a technical vision, but eager to collaborate on it.
  • Deeply live iterative product development: balancing speed and iteration with quality and maintainability, and adjust that balance based on the situation.
  • Take pride in the designs that you make. You value a clean, elegant and efficient design system, and encourage the same for your team.
  • Are biased toward action: you deliver results quickly and iterate instead of waiting for perfection.
  • Be hands-on to execute on the vision with the team of designers.
  • Partner with engineering to ensure that our implementation and user experience are of high-quality.
  • Solicit feedback from your peers, including other product designers and product managers, engineers and other applicable cross-functional partners
  • Work in close collaboration with the VP of Design to inform and improve our design processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Problem Opportunity & Framing; Proactively discover company-level opportunities whose justifications are extremely challenging and help bring clarity and insight to these problems.
  • Ownership; Of specific design-led projects that you proactively seek out. As well as working with the VP of Design to identify programs of work where your direction and expertise are needed to guide the work to a successful customer focussed outcome.
  • Execution; Work across the entire design organization to ensure that the quality of craft execution and our design practices are to the high standards that our business and customers expect.
  • Strategy; In close partnership with the VP Design and Leadership Team, help to execute and inform the ongoing evolution of the Design strategy and influence the Product strategies across our company.
  • Impact; You can develop innovative patterns and systems that are durable, and repeatable, and set a new standard for interaction for the company.
  • Collaborate with PMs and engineers in an iterative, transparent, and feedback-driven process.
  • Establish a design system and allows designers across product and marketing to meet user needs and develop highly converting experiences.
  • Elevate the voice of the Design team company-wide and ensure they are the chief voice of the customer.
  • Collaborate to create best-in-class practices for user research both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources in an effective and timely manner and demonstrate respect for others.

Requirements

Experience:

  • Experience building products in a remote or distributed team environment.
  • Demonstrated portfolio of shipping amazing customer experiences that have made a significant impact on business and customer metrics.
  • Prior marketplace experience preferred
  • You have led teams of or managed other UX practitioners.
  • Experience in design thinking methodologies to lead teams toward customer-centered outcomes

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • 7 years experience in a senior Inidual Contributor role.
  • Exceptional interaction and visual design skills.
  • Deep organization and execution capabilities, especially in areas of influence and collaboration with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Excellent written/verbal communication - an engaging storyteller.
  • Proven ability to hold conversations on design principles with organization leaders
  • Loves collaborating with engineers – enjoys translating complex, static designs to production-ready code.
  • Obsessed with ensuring an exceptional customer experience- for both internal and external customers.
  • Stands up for decisions, takes responsibility for results, and shares both good and bad outcomes transparently.
  • Demonstrates a relentless focus on results with a commitment to deliver;
  • Takes decisive action, and confidently changes course if unsuccessful.
  • Displays a growth mindset to continually improve; encourages everyone around them to to be tenacious and never settle.

  • Location: Remote
  • Frequency of travel: Occasional travel may be required for meetings, training and/or conferences.
