Reporting to the Manager, Product Line the Data Analyst II is responsible for collecting, evaluating, and preparing research and/or other complex or significant and unique statistical data for a specific business need. This position is responsible for data reporting, converting customer requests into technical requirements, and ensuring deliverable commitments are met. This position works directly with internal customers and leadership at various levels within the organization to research and identify operational business requirements with sufficient detail and clarity to allow the development of the data or reporting solution needed. Develops, maintains, and ensures quality control of databases, assists in development and implementation of measurement, and creates coinciding documentation.

To be qualified for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in work experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience developing reports (i.e. Ad-hoc, Standard, Dashboards, Scorecards, etc.) using Microsoft PowerBI.
  • 2-4 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server technologies.
  • 2-4 years of experience with relational database modeling.
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial company.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL language and SQL database queries; experience with SQL Server, Oracle, Hadoop, and other data sources.
  • Proficient in writing SQL stored procedures, functions, views, and complex scripts.
  • Strong relationship management and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a minimal amount of direction while being pro-active in keeping their management informed of project related issues.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure. Maintains composure and professionalism in an interrupt driven environment. Must be able to multi-task.
  • Must be flexible and embrace change.
  • Knowledge of relational databases; design, structure, data associations, and query language.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 software; Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational, and priority management skills.
  • Able to learn and produce reporting insights from other systems and data sources (ie., Finance DataMart, Zuora, Informatica, and other systems).

You will set yourself apart:

  • If you have experience with AWS services for analytics including Quicksight, Athena, Kinesis, etc.
  • If you have experience with Data Visualization and creating dashboards, using tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Excel.
  • If you are proficient with Microsoft PowerBI and connecting to multiple data sources for reporting and visualization.
  • It is helpful to have experience with Zuora, Cognos, Data Warehouse, Informatica, and other ETL tools.
  • If you are innovative, love solving problems, and are self-motivated.

You will be:

  • Meeting internally to determine the project requirements and negotiate timelines and deliverables.
  • Developing Ad-hoc, Standard, Dashboards, Scorecards, and other reports using PowerBI or other SQL-based reporting tools.
  • Performing complex data analysis across platforms using Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs).
  • Assisting with special projects as assigned to contribute to Availity’s overall business goals. Projects could include ad hoc reporting, searches and reviews, program evaluation, quality initiatives, analysis, development, etc.
  • Applying rules consistently to correct data problems and maintain documentation and source code/scripts.
  • Developing and maintain protocols for how to handle, process, and clean data.
  • Supporting the work load and priorities of other Data Analysts and Data Engineers which includes CR’s, Team Track tickets and ad hoc requests as needed.
  • Developing and maintain the workflow processes for all reporting requests.
  • Supporting one-off data issues and ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Working to migrate one-off-exceptions to automated solutions, best practices are aligned with Availity’s corporate strategy
