Required systems and software knowledge of:    • Mac OS 12.7 or above    • Adobe Suite of tools:    • InDesign - for print & digital document production    • Photoshop - for photo editing, batch processing, map production    • Illustrator - for map production    • Acrobat Pro - for PDF creation, editing, map production files    • Microsoft Office (Word and Excel - Must be able to edit Excel spreadsheets)

SCOPE of Work Responsibilities: Your duties will be three-fold: Beginning Jan. 31 ---(1) THE TOUR GUIDE: Produce the 40-page Tour Guide using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro. Administration will process roughly 250-260 artists’ info and send you the info and the link to their chosen image in an Excel spreadsheet. You link to each artist’s image and save it to a folder you create called “JPEGS”. You then batch process all images at one time from .jpg to .tiff or .pdf, given certain parameters. Save the batched images to a folder you create called “TIFFs” or “PDFs”. You also apply styles to all copy, using InDesign style sheets. There is a significant amount of interaction with artists through email, txt and phone, due to changes. TOUR GUIDE COVER: First, to be in the printed Tour Guide, artists have to register by Jan. 31, or earlier. By that time, their online MOS gallery pages show what they’ve each posted. Look at everyones’ posted images for cover possibilities. Since MOS has a very short advertising and event window of visability, the image chosen for the cover must be used in all advertising produced for print and digital channels. Therefore, it is imperative to look through the MOS website gallery pages of each registered artist and choose 3-5 image possibilities, narrow it to the 3 best and work up draft covers of each. Present them to the Board of Directors. ---(2) THE MAPS: There are 2 Illustrator files: One for North & West Marin Co. and one for Central & South Marin Co. These 2 Illustrator files are the MASTERs of the maps. Once the Masters are complete, each will be cropped to fill a page in the Tour Guide. There will be 8 map pages. Once participant capacity is reached and you receive a master spreadsheet from Admin. of all who are in the Guide, save that master .xlsx spreadsheet as “MASTER”,… it is the original doc every other custom spreadsheet will be made from. Do not save over the MASTER. Always do “save as”. To make a custom spreadsheet, you will do ’save as’ and rename the spreadsheet “MAPS”, deleting some columns that don’t apply for the needs of these different purposes: mapping, A-Z index, Media Index, etc. Map the participants’ studios using BatchGeo*. Save your edited .xlsx file and drag and drop it onto BatchGeo field. This may take a couple of tries. Once the placements are made in BatchGeo, use them to find and mark the locations on the Illustrator files. Deadline to send the final page files to the printer is @ 3rd-4th week in March. Printer is in LA area. They print Marin Magazine, wherein the MOS Tour Guide is inserted in the May issue and mailed to 38K Marin homes. You’ll proof and “OK” each page online before it goes to press. ---(3) THE ADVERTISING: Advertising design & production begins @ last week in March, just after the Tour Guide is shipped to the printer. However, there is one Marin Magazine ad that deadlines in Feb. Design and produce 20-25 print and digital ads of varying sizes for publication in local media, using InDesign. This is where you use the same art as was chosen for the Tour Guide cover. Copy, dates, times, sponsors will be provided by admin. You will work with the MOS marketing Ad Buyer. Ads will run, primarily, in April and early May.
