This is a fully remote position for eligible candidates currently based in most of the United States and Canada

 

PerBlue is looking for our next talented and experienced Art Lead to join our team. We’re a quickly growing independent studio whose free-to-play midcore mobile games have been played by millions people around the world, including our award-winning Disney Heroes: Battle Mode game.  

Our cross-functional and collaborative team has experience across the videogame industry. Headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, we also offer remote work opportunities within the United States and Canada for an unmatched quality of life and work.

 

What's this position all about?

In this product centric role, you’ll help create incredible experiences for mobile game fans around the world. You’ll take responsibility for the entire artistic process in one of our games, starting with creating and refining the look and feel of our characters all the way through storyboards and game flow on which our teams can execute. Your strengths in strong visual development skills and design direction will drive the look and feel of the characters and settings for our mobile games. 

  • You’ll be deeply involved throughout the production process and play a key role in helping shape the visual style of our games.
  • This is a highly collaborative role that works closely with our Product Officer, Producers, Developers, Game Designers, Art Manager and Artists.
  • You'll have significant professional experience creating finished 2D concept art for shipped, financially successful games. You should have a refined portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating the visual style for video games generally, with a focus on mobile strategy/RPG games highly desired.
  • If you take passionate ownership in visually creating video game characters, and have a strong orientation toward teamwork, we'd love to hear from you! 

 

Who you are

  • 3+ years as a professional 2D/3D artist 
  • Experience leading project-specific artists and external art partners in at least one financially successful project

 

Your attributes

  • Solid understanding of fundamental game design, production, and live operations
  • A great communicator. You know how todeliver art specs and give verbal, written, and illustrated feedback for both internal and external teams.
  • A planner, with the ability to deliver schedules, independently and with the production team
  • Ready to move into team and project leadership while remaining hands-on with the art. 

 

Other experience to highlight in your application

  • Familiarity with the constraints and opportunities in character-driven mobile RPG/strategy games.
  • Experience working with external art vendors, specifically paintovers
  • Experience with game design
  • Experience with Unity
