The Opportunity:

We're actively seeking a seasoned Head of Design to lead our product design team and shape the trajectory of our product suite. This pivotal role involves ensuring that our products deliver exceptional user experiences, precisely meeting our customers’ needs, while also aligning seamlessly with our company's overarching goals and setting new standards within the procure-pay-close industry. We're looking for someone who not only possesses a strong knack for design but also leads with empathy, demonstrating a genuine passion for solving complex problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a geographically distributed team of product designers and UX writers.

  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering counterparts to develop and implement a comprehensive UX strategy aligned with business goals, customer needs, and industry best practices.

  • Balance long-term vision with short-term execution, rallying the team around key objectives that drive Airbase's continued success.

  • Oversee the creation of wireframes and interactive prototypes to effectively communicate design concepts and validate user interactions, enhancing the procure-pay-close lifecycle.

  • Leverage insights to inform UX design decisions and identify areas for improvement.

  • Guide the UX writing team to ensure consistency in voice and tone throughout the product.

  • Cultivate a collaborative and innovative environment that fosters creativity and upholds high-quality design outcomes.

  • Mentor designers across the team to elevate the organization's overall capabilities.

  • Play a pivotal role in recruiting and retaining top design talent while fostering growth within the team to uphold Airbase's reputation for creative excellence.

  • Implement best practices and processes that help optimize efficiency and impact.

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in product design, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.

  • Experience building and leading world-class product design team/s.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in product design, including showcasing your knowledge of mobile and web patterns, and design systems.

  • Excellent communication, leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to critically think and solve problems with cross-functional teams, and always considering the business side of design to further the strategy of the company.

  • Experience in creating a positive, inclusive, and collaborative environment for designers to do their best work.

  • Strong understanding of industry-standard design tools (Eg. Figma)

  • Excitement for the chance to shape the design culture at a growing company and eagerness to inspire people with your unique perspective.
