The Marketing Manager – Community Outreach will play an instrumental role in cultivating authentic relationships within the community that we serve and will ultimately be responsible for increasing the direct impact that GovX provides for our non-profit and other local/national community partners through our GovX Gives Back program. This leader will have a clear understanding of who our GovX members are, a firm knowledge of the non-profits, departments, and other institutions that support our GovX member community, and a vision for how GovX can best leverage our company assets to provide a meaningful impact for both. This role will report to the VP, Marketing, and will work across multiple teams to ensure that GovX members and the organizations that they rely on have a clear understanding of how GovX supports them.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will be the face of GovX to our non-profit and community partners. You will expand our network of connections within the non-profit/departmental community, you will develop and cultivate those relationships, and you will find new ways for GovX to provide a positive impact for them through our GovX Gives Back program. Some of the core responsibilities that you will own include:

  • Establish monthly/quarterly/annual impact goals for GovX Gives Back and then track/report progress against those goals to the wider marketing team and senior management.
  • Create a directory of non-profit/organizational contacts, cultivate those relationships so that GovX is in tune with their priorities/events/needs, prioritize opportunities where GovX can provide the biggest impact, and nurture the relationships throughout the annual cycle (ie, check-ins even when we aren’t actively working on a campaign together).
  • Determine which non-profit(s) we will be supporting each month through our GovX Gives Back program and lead all aspects of those partnerships, from initial conversations to signed agreements, to execution/activation, to final payment, to final recap.
  • Maintain a comprehensive calendar of the organizations we’re supporting as well as a project timeline for each. It is your responsibility to ensure that deadlines are met for all aspects of the partnership, including internal timelines around creative development and the overall GovX marketing calendar/planning process.
  • Work with our organizational partners to provide assets and other content that they can use to promote our partnership.
  • Provide timely, detailed recaps to our organizational partners, our wider marketing team, and our PR agency at the end of each campaign.
  • Work with our organizational partners to collect testimonials and other creative assets for use in outbound PR and marketing.
  • Manage an annual community outreach budget. It will be your responsibility to determine how to allocate the budget across different needs – non-profit event sponsorship (ie, sponsoring a gala), marketing collateral (ie, print insert for event giveaway bags), and onsite activation needs (ie, new sunshade for GovX booth at an event).
  • Identify opportunities for our GovX brand partners to participate in our GovX Gives Back program. The goal should be to have at least one brand partner contributing to our GovX Gives Back impact each month.
  • Work with the wider GovX team to develop our Patch of the Month series as a fund raiser for our GovX Gives Back program.
  • Develop and build the case for new ways that GovX can raise funds to increase our GovX Gives Back impact.
  • Be the in-person face of GovX at partner events. You will be the lead person for GovX when attendance is needed at any event we’re supporting through GovX Gives Back.
  • Clearly measure and report performance of all marketing campaigns promoting GovX Gives Back, and identify trends, insights and key areas for improvement (weekly, monthly, quarterly).

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

This will be a high-visibility role that will interact with multiple teams within the company, including senior management. A successful candidate for this role will be an effective communicator at all levels of the company, able to clearly articulate the results of their efforts and make their case for support from other teams, with an ability to succinctly communicate up to higher levels of management. In this role, you will also need to be able to work autonomously, with the skill and confidence to make decisions independently and then execute on those decisions, without the help of others. Some of your key interactions will include:

  • You will spend a large percentage of your time interfacing with our external non-profit/departmental partners. You should enjoy communicating with a lot of people in your day-to-day, and in all formats (email, video, phone, chat, in person, etc.).
  • Work closely with the wider marketing team to ensure that promotional campaigns are factored in to your GovX Gives Back planning. You should have an intimate understanding of the marketing promotional calendar to help develop your GovX Gives Back plans.
  • Collaborate with the GovX creative team to produce assets required for digital or offline purposes.
  • Communicate regularly with the GovX category management/merchandise team to a) develop a deep understanding of the GovX product catalog so that you are aware of potential brand-partnership opportunities and b) there is a clear feedback loop to communicate how brand-partner-supported Gives Back campaigns have performed so that those data points can be factored into their future planning.
  • Deliver results, strategy, and needs to all key stakeholders, including upper management. A successful candidate will understand the differences needed for effective communication at each level.
  • Align budget planning and ROI analysis with the finance and accounting teams to ensure that our community outreach spend is reaching our desired impact and areas of opportunity are highlighted.
  • Partner with the product team to evaluate and implement new systems or product enhancements that could benefit our GovX Gives Back efforts. To achieve buy-in and support you will need to build clear, data-driven cases to support these conversations.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Director – Content and our PR agency to ensure that we are effectively telling the story of our non-profit/departmental support. You will be responsible for helping craft these stories so that GovX can promote the impact that we are providing for our community.
