Our mission

Anansi is on a mission to digitise goods-in-transit insurance to make it faster, fairer and more flexible for ecommerce businesses. We have identified a $33B market that's ready for disruption - just 10% of shipments are currently insured - and are already gaining traction with some major players in the market. We're starting by providing automated cover for shipping losses and delays on Shopify. We've recently raised a £1.5M pre-seed round from a reputable VC and are building out our core team.

What you'll do

You will be a founding member of our direct sales team with responsibility for driving growth of Anansi's digital goods in transit insurance product. Your primary role is to proactively build a pipeline of distribution partner prospects, qualify, present, close and support new sales / relationships. You will focus on the accurate and timely delivery of work and build and manage relationships within key accounts and work closely with the founders and wider team.

You will be highly organised and comfortable building relationships and working with all levels. Stakeholder management and communication will be vital to the success of the role. This position requires a self-driven, tech-savvy, high-energy, creative professional who's passionate about disrupting an industry and wants to be rewarded for their performance and contributions.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a company where sales isn't an afterthought, it's front and centre of how we're building the business and we are investing in it to ensure we have high levels of automation. You will play a vital role in our growth and success, by growing and scaling Anansi's sales engine.

Key responsibilities:

  • Use a highly consultative approach to set up sales meetings and conduct face to face meetings for new business and relationship management.
  • Meet new business revenue goals and objectives to close distribution agreements with major retailers, third party logistics providers, software vendors, freight forwarders, and other distribution opportunities across the goods in transit value chain.
  • Perform demos of our tech-enabled insurance product to prospects and customers.
  • Work with the team to set up the Anansi sales pipeline, deal cycles and performance tracking and  maintain the integrity of customer information in the CRM (HubSpot).
  • Preparation of regular forecast reports and track against targets.
  • Develop and own sales models, make sales presentations and close sales
  • As this insurance product is distributed via embedded API, you will lead technical sales discussions on potential integrations to ensure successful specification prior to implementation. 
  • Attend occasional industry events and stay up to date on the latest trends and news. 
  • Commercial contract negotiation and administration.
  • Liaise with product, partnerships and insurance teams to continuously improve our internal processes and customer features.
  • Work in closed-loop fashion with Marketing to ensure regular feedback on voice of customer information so Marketing can create excellent sales enablement assets that accelerate the sales process.

  • 5-10 years of proven success in an enterprise sales role at a fast-growing tech company (including experience ideally in a B2B, fintech, insurtech or logistics business).
  • Experience with selling products delivered via API
  • Product centric and will seek to deeply understand what we're building and why our customers love it.
  • Understanding of a startup environment - ability to work in an entrepreneurial  environment where change is constant and flexibility is vital. 
  • Strong and comfortable with negotiating with stakeholders of all levels.
  • A relentless focus on execution and a strong eye for detail.
  • Exceptional follow-through and ‘can do' attitude. 
  • Self-starter who thrives in a remote-first environment.
  • A nice-to-have would be multilingual in German, Spanish, French, and/or another European language.
  • You live in Portugal, UK, Spain or Germany.

Our interview process takes place on Zoom and tends to consist of the following stages:

  • Initial interview with Talent Lead
  • Exploratory interview with the CEO
  • Technical interview with the CTO and one of the company's advisors.
  • Final interview with two members of the team.
