Title: Physical Security Systems Engineer

(US Remote Available)

Role Summary

As a Senior Engineer you will develop and deploy security technology using internal Splunk’s toolset to ingest data and anticipate risk. Specifically, you will research, implement, program, and maintain the environment while achieving cyber security compliance. You will also work closely with multi-functional teams to integrate IT systems, ensuring a detailed and secure user experience. Our systems include access control, visitor management, video surveillance and related infrastructure.

What you’ll get to do

  • Work with technology and business partners across different business functions to understand their front to back-end business processes & data architectures, identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation, apply process engineering & automation methodologies
  • Define, design and implement performance / scalability benchmarks on Splunk Enterprise and Cloud products
  • Develop and assist business partners with crafting requirements, identifying gaps and converting business requirements into technical solutions for improvements and fixes.
  • Develop solutions with our Security and Compliance teams, to help us scale our infrastructure, processes, techniques, and respond to the challenges of our Cloud environment.
  • Collaborate closely with other multi-functional IT teams to define and implement effective and efficient solutions to business challenges and opportunities.
  • Sync with fellow leaders of our Global Security Operations and Risk and Information Protection teams on a strategy to support their functions with technical solutions and expertise
  • Perform operational support responsibilities including application maintenance, application configuration and performance tuning, account management, installation of software upgrades, user support, and systems monitoring.
  • Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and working with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%
  • Support rotational on-call scheduling

Must-have Qualifications

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years as a technical security engineer or similar professional experience
  • 7+ years of solution architecture with focus on coding, API, service architecture, disaster recovery, server patching hardware and software
  • Demonstrable experience in building distributed security systems and highly-available services
  • Optimized experience with project planning, crafting and communicating technical solutions to leaders and key partners
  • Hands-on knowledge of reviewing common IT & Engineering technologies including OS, databases, network infrastructure, application security, Linux/Windows system security, networking, mobile device security, cloud technologies and applications (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS environments, etc.).
  • Experience crafting applications targeted at IT Operations, Security Experts, and/or Business Analysts

  • Optimized technical skills across physical security technology, including all core IT dependencies, querying, scripting, and hardware/software dev
  • Proficient expertise in deploying resilient, scalable, solutions centered around user experience
  • Proficient knowledge of SAML and OAuth
  • Validated knowledge of performing STIG and use of Tenable or Crowdstrike
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in configuring and running physical security software
  • Experience with integrating physical security systems with other IT systems
  • Excellent analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proven attention to detail
  • Proficient knowledge and/or certification with electronic security manufacturers and CCTV such as Feenics, Lenel, AMAG, Software House, Bosch, Pelco, Genetec, Avigilon and Axis
  • Relevant professional security certifications

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $104,000.00 – 143,000.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $94,400.00 – 129,800.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $84,800.00 – 116,600.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
