What your new job can look like…

The Kafka Data Engineer position is a crucial future part of the DevOps Team at Moodle.

You will have the opportunity to work with the latest cutting edge technologies, such as Kafka, ElasticSearch and Cassandra. Building out our in-house data lake solution, from constructing the data ingestion pipelines, combining and liberating the data - to ensuring full operational efficiency.

As a key role, you will be engaging with stakeholders and help unearth many insightful buried treasures. Even adding in some machine learning and data science when given the chance.

With an additional opportunity of knowledge sharing and learning all about DevOps: Kubernetes, Terraform, Salt, CI/CD, AWS, etc.

What You Will Do

  • Aid in the architecture building the data lake solution from the ground up
  • Create, stabilize and operate multiple data pipelines.
  • Configuring sources, sinks, partitions, replication and consumer groups.
  • Provide your expertise and passion for all things data and sharing with the team as lead data engineer.
  • Helping to instrument the environment and funnel metrics through automated monitoring and reporting solutions.

Requirements

We'd love to meet you

Especially if you can talk to us about your:

  • Kafka ecosystem experience, setting up and working with Kafka brokers, Connect, Zookeeper, ksqlDB, ElasticSearch and Cassandra.
  • Your ability to build enrich processes within the data pipe, especially around CDC.
  • Any past experiences providing in-depth business insights in R or Python.
  • Have excellent English language skills - verbal and written.
