Role:

The Audio Engineer is responsible for creating and compiling high-quality audio assets for interactive video games and multimedia projects.  The position requires a high level of polyvalence as we are looking for a well rounded inidual who can handle audio from direction to design to integration.  Audio plays an important role on VR products and audio is a high priority topic at Lucky VR.

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the creative leadership to establish an audio vision for the game that will enhance the player's immersion and experience.
  • Create and implement exceptional audio design for complex gameplay and cinematic elements.
  • Promote audio best practices to ensure high-quality product outcomes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary narrative and game design departments to ensure the audio design supports the game design.
  • Utilize advanced methods and techniques to create various in-game sounds, effects, and music, including mixing, processing, and implementation into the game engine.
  • Utilize the game engine's audio tools to create and assign sounds to animations, effects, and other various game events.
  • Develop the sound concept, sound map, or storyboard for game projects.
  • Ensure sound effects meet the technical requirements of the game including voice channel limits, and memory management.
  • Investigate sound issues to debug/fix, and ensure sounds play correctly.
  • Pre-mix sound effects to be implemented in-game, and oversee final sound design mix.
  • Effectively utilize various sound implementation systems such as Wwise, FMOD, Max MSP, or other visual logic systems.
  • Creates audio for multimedia project marketing content.
  • Communicates status, risks, and opportunities with production and team leadership.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in game audio development
  • Experience using game audio development tools, technology, and pipelines.
  • Experience in original sound effect design, creation, mixing, processing, implementation, and computer game product development experience.
  • Proficiency with multitrack project mixing software/hardware and session set-up.
  • Advanced experience with mixing stereo and surround sound formats.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of node-based visual scripting tools. (Pure Data, Max MSP, etc.)
  • Expertise with modern audio creation equipment, software, and recording techniques, with a high level of proficiency in at least one DAW.
  • Strong understanding of audio concepts and industry standards.
  • Thoroughly understands the foundations of dynamic, frequency, and time-based effects as well as audio synthesis.
  • Experience creating audio for advertising and marketing content.
  • Outstanding sound design and listening skills.
  • Experience developing audio pipelines and workflow for a game project
  • Experience creating procedurally generated story and cinema.
