JOB SUMMARY

The Council for Professional Recognition promotes improved performance and recognition of professionals in the early childhood education of children ages birth to 5 years old. The Council works to ensure that all professional early childhood educators and caregivers meet the developmental, emotional, and educational needs of our nation's youngest children.

Under direct supervision of the Design Manager II, the Graphic Designer serves as a creative leader of digital and print media, email communication, video, websites, publications, collateral, social media and other platforms as needed. This person demonstrates a strong attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate deadlines, design concepts and project outcomes (written and verbal). In addition, this person is a self-starter, flexible, collaborative, resourceful and focused. With a commitment to providing model client service, the Graphic Designer builds positive relationships and works closely with Council staff members by participating in meetings, brainstorming sessions, project storyboarding and campaign development relating to branding, creative concepts, design and layout. This person will also support the design of paid and organic advertising campaigns, creates UTM links and gathers metrics to analyze the success of Council campaigns and initiatives. The Graphic Designer exercises their knowledge of User Experience (UX), User Interface Design (UI) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to elevate the design and layout of the Council for Professional Recognition's digital platforms, websites and mobile app. The Graphic Designer has extensive knowledge of and readily shares expertise on the role of typography, color, image and visual hierarchy and presents compelling visual designs that elevate the Council's brand.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a creative leader to execute the design and on time delivery of Council campaigns, events, internal initiatives, platforms, and digital and print media.
  • Adhere to Council branding guidelines.
  • Review collateral, presentations, videos and other digital media to ensure Council trademark and branding guidelines have been rendered appropriately.
  • Collaborate with Marketing department staff to transform complex concepts into easy-to-understand animations (gifs), illustrations, infographics, videos, fact sheets, news graphics and other elements that enhance storytelling.
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing department staff to review project briefs, define campaign strategy, brainstorm/storyboard creative elements and produce final design.
  • Design templates to facilitate quick production of imagery for email campaigns, social media posts and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Create and update existing marketing materials to support the design and production of the Council's annual conference, as well as other in-person and virtual conferences, events and exhibiting opportunities.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Design Manager II and other Marketing department staff focused on production of content for email, digital publications, online advertising, website and social platforms.
  • Lead the design and production of Council monthly and quarterly newsletters.
  • Lead the design of flyers, brochures, branded merchandise, PowerPoint presentations, white papers and other marketing materials.
  • Manage the design and layout of Council stationary, including letterhead, envelopes, credentials, business cards.
  • Design and layout Council digital and print publications.
  • Create logos and brand style guides, as needed, for new Council products and services.
  • Co-manage the Council's website updates, as well as the design, layout and implementation of webpages, landing pages and menus.
  • Stay abreast of the latest design trends and make recommendations on how to improve the user experience and/or user interface designs on Council digital media and platforms.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 4 to 6 years of graphic design experience leading multiple projects and supervising staff.
  • Professional design work experience is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Command of design principles, typography, color, image and visual hierarchy.
  • Experience describing complex ideas with visual clarity.
  • Mastery of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator; familiarity with other digital production tools.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; familiarity with other standard office applications.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and common front-end frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics, SEO, UI and UX design.
  • Experience with video editing and production using Adobe Premiere, iMovie and/or Vimeo.
  • Experience creating motion graphics; competent knowledge of video production/editing concepts.
  • Experience with email and online publishing tools, including Constant Contact and WordPress.
  • Experience with Adobe XD and/or Figma.
  • Experience designing for popular social media platforms; familiarity with platform-specific social video and GIF animation.
  • Familiarity with digital advertising formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Willingness to learn new technical concepts and tasks.
  • Excellent team skills but capable of working independently and being self-motivated.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working among a team of content creators with different skillsets.
  • Demonstrated advanced experience at the manager level.

Required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds (lbs.). Sporadically, could be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, boxes, cases, and/or files weighing as much as 25 lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)
