The Organization 

The Fund for Global Human Rights is a leading supporter of on-the-ground human rights groups around the world. Dedicated to finding and funding the most effective human rights organizations in countries from Africa to South East Asia to Latin America, the Fund for Global Human Rights offers grants and facilitates technical support to ensure the long-term effectiveness and viability of frontline groups working in challenging conditions with scant resources.

Since 2002, the Fund has awarded over $85 million to more than 500 human rights organizations across the globe. Grantees work on a wide range of issues from indigenous land rights in Guatemala, to women’s rights in Morocco, to discrimination against HIV positive people in India. The Fund currently maintains grants programs for rights groups based in fourteen countries around the world and has offices in the US and the UK.

The Position  

The Multimedia Design Consultant is an exciting new role on the Fund’s five-person Communications and Marketing team. The consultant role is being created in response to a growing demand for high-quality visual content across all of the Fund’s digital marketing platforms, as well as increased need for designed content to bolster our donor marketing efforts. The consultant will work with the Communications and Marketing team to conceptualize and document the Fund’s evolving brand look and feel, while also ensuring all public-facing materials meet our design standards and sit within our brand guidelines. The consultant will report directly to the Director of Communications and Marketing, but will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to produce a range of products, including but not limited to: social media graphics and videos, publications, presentations, email marketing templates, infographics, web pages, and swag. The consultant will also manage the Fund’s visual content library and support the team in responding to content requests.

 Essential Duties 

  • Update and maintain the organizations brand guidelines and ensure that all designed materials adhere to them 
  •  Work with the Communications and Marketing team to refine and define the Fund’s evolving brand look and feel
  • Develop designs for new and existing webpages, utilizing the principles of UX to inform design 
  • Design and create a range of printed and digital marketing materials on request, including but not limited to: publications, brochures, infographics, business cards, presentation templates, and event invites 
  • Create and manage the production of branded products (e.g. tote bags, pens, mugs) 
  • Design and create email marketing templates using the Fund’s email platform, MailChimp
  • Design and create daily social media graphics, videos, animated gifs, and reels
  • Edit longer website and event videos using our content from our archive and licensed materials 
  • Design and create a range of internal communications products to support and improve knowledge management within the Fund
  • Analyse the effectiveness of designed products by using available data and feedback on products to inform and improve future design projects
  • Manage the Fund’s library of creative materials (videos, graphic, and photos) 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop
  • 3-5 years of multimedia design experience 
  • Competent designing with CSS and HTML
  • Understanding of UX design principles 
  • Competent with video editing and editing software’s (e.g. Premier Pro, Final Cut)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with content licensing processes and agreements 
  • Knowledge of current design trends in digital marketing, social media and emerging digital platforms
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt 
  • Strong self-management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the charity sector 
  • Experience working with a growing and evolving brand
