Description

Gryphon Scientific is seeking applicants for a visual information and graphic design position. At Gryphon, you will collaborate on projects in health and security to develop and create informative and visually compelling graphics and other multimedia in digital and print. Successful applicants will work independently and with senior staff at the company to hone skills in data, science, and health communications by contributing to branding and other collateral, infographics, social media and web content, animations, training videos, posters, and technical reports. Projects involve collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and incorporate meeting support, project management, UI/UX, and user-centered design components. Staff hired to this position will be an active and engaged participant in the communication and coordination programs for several high-profile NIH-funded research consortia, contributing meaningfully to promote these scientific networks, advance clinical and translational sciences, and combat public health threats. The available positions will primarily support projects in Gryphon’s Data Management and Communications practice, but staff will have the opportunity to work on projects in other practices.

Duties

  • Design visual communications materials, including newsletters, web content, social media graphics, figures, and infographics to convey data and information to scientific, clinical, government, and patient communities
  • Create layouts and templates for collateral, digital content, and printed materials
  • Develop storyboards for and assist in animations and video production
  • Support UI/UX and web design tasks, emphasizing user-centered design principles
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand assignments, target audience, and messaging to develop design materials
  • Adhere to branding, best practices in visual design, and accessibility standards
  • Track and manage development and dissemination of visual communications products in collaboration with project leaders
  • Perform task-related logistics and support functions, including remote and in-person meeting coordination
  • Provide status updates to project managers and team members and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Stay current with design trends, technologies, and professional best practices
  • Additional communications and logistics services as needed

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in fine arts, graphic design, multimedia design, communications, or a related field
  • Two years of work experience and a portfolio
  • GPA 3.0 or higher (out of 4.0) during final two years of college
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to government client requirements

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite products (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Figma
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (MailChimp)
  • Working knowledge of branding, marketing, and communications strategies
  • Demonstrated experience integrating ersity, equity, and inclusion into collateral, including digital accessibility and 508 compliance
  • Experience working with brand identities, developing and maintaining visual libraries, and understanding of typography, color, and visual design best practices
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow processes and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly and without errors both in writing (e.g., email correspondence, scientific writing, posts) and verbally (e.g., stakeholder interactions)
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work on assignments that are moderately complex under indirect supervision
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take trainings as needed

Additional Skills and Experience (not required)

  • Basic animation and video editing experience, including using Adobe Creative Suite products like After Effects or Animate
  • Experience or training in user-centered design, web design, and UI/UX
  • Science, health, or risk communications experience
  • Experience coordinating virtual and in-person meetings with erse stakeholders
