Waterplan is a fast-growing startup in the Climate Tech Space that develops a B2B Enterprise SaaS platform for companies to dynamically measure, respond, report and monitor local water risk.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Data Scientist to be a part of our Science and Engineering Teams and help develop and deploy our cutting edge hydrologic platform.  

You will be working in a fully remote distributed team across multiple disciplines at a science-oriented company and you will do this hand in hand with the Head of our Science Department.

About your core focus 

We are looking for a Data Scientist who wants to be a part of a fast-growing company and an ambitious Science and Engineering Team. Your mission will be to support the growth of our science-based platform by working with our engineering team to operationalize our water science analytics.

  • Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Collaborate with a team of scientists and software engineers to help develop geospatial data pipelines (i.e. ETL)

  • Translate scientific methods to operational code

  • Help deploy, maintain and troubleshoot scientific analyses

  • Perform quick EDA to support sales, marketing, and customer success teams

     

What we're looking for

  • Proficient in English

  • Expert knowledge of scientific programming in Python

  • Experience using machine learning and geospatial libraries in Python 

  • Strong background in geospatial data analysis and ETL pipelines 

  • Experience working with in the AWS cloud infrastructure (i.e. Lambdas, StepFunctions, S3, etc.)

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment with a goal oriented approach

 

Nice to have skills

  • Experience with the Pangeo stack (i.e. zarr, dask, xarray)

  • Google Earth Engine

  • Remote sensing

  • Previous experience in the Climate-Tech Space
