Our client's Database Engineers are relied on to build the future of our direct-to-home service delivery platform. As a part of our Engineering department, based in beautiful Provo, UT, this role requires the ability to move quickly, think deeply and work well with others on your Agile Scrum team: engineers, UX, product owners, and stakeholders. As a Senior Database Engineer, you will engineer, code, and test resilient, highly-scalable database systems that support both our web applications as well as backend APIs for our mobile apps servicing our hundreds of thousands of customers. We are significantly building out the engineering teams at Aptive and are seeking talented coders who love growth to be a part of this expansion.

 

Responsibilities include:

● Work experience in writing complex SQL queries in MySQL and in building stored procedures and views.
● Manage different databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
● Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
● Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
● Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
● Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
● Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
● Build ER diagrams and help develop and refine DB standards, code reviews, and release processes.
● Provide support for critical production systems.
● Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours if required.
● Capacity Planning and delivering robust and scalable databases.
● Backup & Restore databases, ensuring a well-defined and tested disaster recovery strategy.
● Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
● Solve technical problems by working closely with Agile scrum masters, UX, product managers, and remote teams.
● Review and correct code for quality and design.
● Design high-performance database schema and code architecture.
● Empower remote teams to deliver stable, high-performing, and reliable code. This requires regular interactions with remote teams in the mornings.
● Contribute significantly to sprints, meet sprint deadlines, help other team members with their sprint commitments and take the lead on urgent tasks.

Required Qualifications:

● 7+ years of experience writing SQL queries and performance tuning.
● Experience required in designing, modeling, and implementing database DDL and DML.
● Working knowledge of database and architecture best practices.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
