SPUD.ca is looking for a Lead UX Designer to join our hybrid eCommerce team. This is a permanent role which will be remote-first, and is open to candidates based anywhere in Canada.

The Lead UX Designer will help continue to push the boundaries of what is possible by helping define the product experience across all SPUD.ca, partnering with product managers, developers, marketing, and other stakeholders to make sure we continue to lead and innovate by solving tomorrow's problems today.

 

This is a role for a creative inidual with excellent aesthetic judgment, ability to drive change with data, and a willingness to collaborate within a wide team environment. You will help by progressing the SPUD.ca customer experience and you will also inspire and elevate the team by producing work that is always raising the bar and taking a user-experience-first approach to solving problems. Your work will allow our customers to feel delighted every time they use our product.

 

SPUD.ca is an online grocery delivery business in Western Canada. Responsibilities:

  • Define the product experience across all customer touchpoints (omnichannel design), partnering closely with product managers, developers, marketing, and other key stakeholders to implement high-quality design solutions.
  • In partnership with product management, lead problem definition.
  • Lead discovery activities, including user research, competitive analysis, user task and goals identifications, journey maps, and process flows.
  • Generate and help lead ideation solutions for complex design problems (eg. involving constraints, needing workarounds, requiring holistic view of the larger system) to deliver elegant product design solutions.
  • Lead the creation of functional prototypes to validate and test designs - prototype fast, fail fast, fix fast.
  • In collaboration with product management, help shape the product strategy and vision, ensuring all projects are defined by measurable data and KPIs for performance tracking to help inform business and design decisions.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineering leads to define an improved process for testing and prototype project formula. Help verify the developed output meets the needs laid out in the design phase.
  • Partner in owning product definitions and documentation that defines product features and functions.
  • Help maintain visual and brand consistency between all products and outlets with the establishment of pattern library and design system.
  • Always promote and maintain accessible design through WCAG 2.0 guidelines.
  • Work closely with marketing/creative team/Customer Care as product requires.
  • Guide the UX team, and promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, empathy, and work-life balance.
  • Additional duties as required.
  • An up-to-date portfolio of UX design work samples, ideally with a focus on eCommerce and/or mobile design.
  • Ability to articulate your design thinking via interaction flows, information architecture, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes with detailed specifications, as well as the customer value.
  • Experience communicating your ideas within the product team and non-creative stakeholders, and incorporating feedback as necessary into your design decisions.
  • Experience working with developers to implement and test solutions.
  • Familiarity with Adobe XD or related design tools.
  • Experience working with agile scrum teams, working iteratively to deliver customer value.
