About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced UX Research Operations Lead to support an important operations arm within our Research Team to help us explore, understand and reinvent everything from the way money works to a bunch of even more ambitious things we can’t talk about yet — an inquisitive, independent lead who believes in a tomorrow where cryptocurrency spreads wealth inclusively and enables new forms of creativity.

The UX Research Operations Lead will join a new and rapidly-growing research function at an exciting growth period. Kraken’s UX Research Team is expanding its impact, influence and ambition and building a cutting-edge UX research function that operates with optimal systems and procedures is a big part of that. The UX Research Operations Lead will define these operational systems and procedures and establish smooth, intelligent UX research practices at Kraken.

The UX Research Operations Lead will operate within the UX Research Team and partner with various teams including Information Security, Legal, Security, Procurement and external vendors in order to enable researchers to work to the best of their ability, without friction.

Kraken’s UX Research Team is a small, in-demand team within a fast-paced company, so the ideal candidate will be excited to play a part in shaping our team’s imprint and be ready to roll their sleeves up and hit the ground running.

Throughout the history of civilization, there have been a handful of moments that changed the course of how we think about wealth and equality. The discovery of gold, the creation of paper money, mortgages, ATMs. We’re at the next of those moments right now, and there is no more exciting place to invest your research operationalizing skills than directly at this intersection of technology and adventure.

What you’ll do

  • Facilitate the smooth, frictionless operation of UX and Market research from tactical research, to design research, to research that informs strategic direction
  • Design, plan, develop and optimise simple and complex operational processes that support research
  • Build an easy-access research participant database and ensure an excellent participant experience including screening, scheduling, logistics and remuneration
  • Be at the cutting edge of research trends, new practices and tooling in order to act as a source of knowledge and inspiration to the Research Team
  • Ensure that the UX and Market Research Teams are armed with the best tools and collaborate effectively with procurement to acquire those tools
  • Foster and maintain relationships with external vendors
  • Build a research repository that cross-functional partners find clear and easy-to-use
  • Constantly make recommendations about how you can facilitate smooth research processes and assist researchers in making their day-to-day frictionless

What we look for

  • 5+ years of impactful experience creating and managing operational programmes for UX research teams
  • Experience building, growing and maintaining an in-house research operations practice
  • A profound knowledge of UX Research best practice
  • Experience identifying frameworks, processes, canvases, tools, documentation and communication standards that will improve the operations of the UX Research Team’s output as a whole
  • Experience building, fostering and maintaining relationships with a wide range of vendors in conjunction with cross-functional teams such as Information Security, Legal, Security and Procurement
  • A deep understanding of the way that privacy laws (such as GDPR) impact research practices and the rigorous processes that need to be put in place in order to protect both our research participants and the company
  • A rich experience supporting researchers in assessing, auditing and testing accessibility and a familiarity with WCAG 2.1
  • Experience as a trusted advisor to the research team who provides solutions for all manner of research projects that support multiple cross-functional partners
  • An excellent communicator (verbal and written) with strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • A strong grasp of User-Centered Design principles
  • A passion for Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency movement with a desire to make the best trading platform in the world
  • The ability to receive constructive criticism and use it to improve the end result
  • Informed about current and emerging trends in crypto, FinTech, product development, trends in UX research and design
  • A team player who will take initiative and ownership of responsibilities and deliverables

We’re powered by people from around the world with their own unique and erse experiences. We value all Krakenites and their talents, contributions, and perspectives, regardless of their background. We encourage you to apply for roles where you don't fully meet the listed requirements, especially if you're passionate or knowledgable about crypto!
