Hyphen is a foodservice platform designed to help restaurant owners, operators, and budding chefs move their businesses forward by putting their kitchen operations on autopilot. We are addressing the operational complexities in the kitchen with the use of AI-based software and robotics. We help restaurants augment their workforce, reduce food waste, and ensure meals are created the way their chef intended.

Founded in 2020, our team is composed of leaders in advanced food-robotics, food-tech, and food-service – we know kitchens and the equipment that makes them run. We’ve seen the challenges that restaurants face as dining preferences continue to shift, and we’re here to help them adapt. We champion thoughtful, human-centered design, and we see its potential to improve our daily lives.

After experiencing a crucible moment amidst the global pandemic in 2020 (you can read more here), Hyphen was born to help restaurants in a time of need. Today, we have customers across the US with reservations for hundreds of systems to design, build, and deploy.

We’ve raised over $50M from top VCs and we’re growing rapidly. We have offices in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, with many of our roles open to partial or fully remote work. We’re a team of food and technology enthusiasts, laser focused on revolutionizing the restaurant landscape together.

The Opportunity:

Their work is chaotic, messy, demanding, and has not been given proper design attention for a very long time. We have a chance to be extremely creative and set the bar of design and user experience for the whole industry. What You'll Do:

  • Design - Synthesize research, create mocks, wireframes, prototypes, journey maps, deliver assets.

  • Balance - You’ll work on a number of both internal and customer-facing products, some of which you will have ownership of, all of which you’ll touch. You’ll need to master time management and prioritization.

  • Explore - We are a company of invention, and as such your tasks will vary in clarity. Some will be well defined, some will be ambiguous. You must be comfortable with being self-directed at times.

  • Organize - You will be responsible for various features, products, stages of design, and work with multiple departments. Being organized is key.

  • Learn - Constantly try out new ideas, see what works, what doesn’t, learn, and improve. We learn about process, flows, customers, technology, and so on. We never stop learning at Hyphen.

  • Collaborate - Hyphen is quite flat. No egos. Everyone has a voice, everyone contributes, and all ideas are considered. It makes working together a joy. You are an active participant in that conversation. You e in, contribute, share.

  • Communicate - Effectively write, illustrate, or diagram out your ideas. Get it down, get it out of your head, and tell your story.
