Job Description

We are seeking a Product Design Director to lead and scale design at Differential. You will work with stakeholders and product teams to lead design through the company’s next critical growth phase. You are a source of inspiration and lead your team through the creative and product design process. You maximize insight to understand and deliver value to customers, but also help envision a future that others don’t always see. We aspire to be known for great design, a passion from the pixels to the people & process of making great digital products.

Design at Differential

The Design team consists of a group of creative iniduals with a variety of backgrounds that are embedded within product teams across the company. Almost all of our engagements with new clients begin with a Design Sprint journey, and design plays a critical role throughout the entire product process. You will have a heavy hand in helping to define how the team should grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of our business.

In Differential’s next growth phase, we are specifically focused on growing our Digital Product Partnerships. These are digital products that helped to reshape the organizations they were originally built for, and Differential is now growing them into self-sustaining products by commercializing them to new customers. This gives you the best of both worlds: a fresh mix of new projects for our clients, as well as long-term product direction for our ongoing product partnerships. Our existing Digital Product Partnerships include:

  • EASE Airport Operations Software, built in partnership with CVG, a thought-leading U.S. based international airport.
  • The Apollos Project - A technology and content platform for the Church that equips people to develop healthy spiritual habits and stay better connected to their church community digitally.
  • “Guides Tech” — A yet-to-be-branded, but proven effective (many times over) mobile app platform created to help facilitate highly engaging and effective e-learning journeys and small group experiences.

What you can expect to do:

  • Evangelize design and design process at Differential
  • Inspire, mentor, and grow the product design team by providing vision and direction and 1-1 coaching
  • Oversee overall design efforts for products, help make sure the right team members are assigned to the right work
  • Help speak to and own product design vision across a variety of projects
  • Collaborate with product leads, engineering, business, and other partners to elevate product design and make it our competitive advantage
  • Contribute to, maintain, and help evolve design systems and product design language on our most critical products

Candidates must be based in the United States, and be available for meetings during standard business hours for client and team meetings. Specific times vary based on client-specific timezone preferences. There is flexibility in working hours but there is an expectation to be able to regularly attend client and team meetings.
