About the Role

Role Overview

We are seeking a versatile and innovative Graphic/Web/UI Designer to join our team at GiveDirectly. In this role, you’ll contribute to the design of our website, web applications, print creatives, and a wide range of other assets to support our mission of driving direct giving.

This role requires a high degree of creativity, attention to detail, and project management skills. You will be tasked with creating engaging, easy-to-navigate designs that meet the needs of our erse audience, from inidual donors to large institutions. Responsibilities:

• Designing and improving the UX/UI for our website and web applications. From product thinking and research to visual design- you will own all aspects of design at GiveDirectly.
• Creating digital assets for our brand, including iconography, typography, templates, and other designs. Less frequently, help on print or PDF templates (i.e. photobooks, reports, decks, etc.).
• Collaborating with internal teams to understand design needs and incorporate feedback into designs. This includes product managers, engineers, stakeholders, executives, etc.

Compensation

At GiveDirectly, we strive to pay our employees generously and equitably. We use an accredited third party salary aggregator to ensure that staff’s total compensation package (base compensation + bonus) falls within the 75th percentile of similar roles, at similar organizations. We also have a no negotiation policy to ensure we are paying staff equitably across roles.

The base salary range for someone based in Europe is $69,000-$85,000 USD.

We're on the hunt for a talented App UI Designer to join our team. As a health tech startup, we're working on an innovative mobile health app and need a creative professional to help us create an intuitive and engaging user interface. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with our in-house UI designer (that's me!) and play a key role in shaping our app's user experience.

1. Full Time Remote/Flexible Hours. You will be working from home in your pajamas, on your schedule. And we don’t care if you work 10 hour days 4 days a week or want to catch up on the weekend. So long as you get a lot of work done, we’re happy campers.

--So, what will I actually be doing?--

Super short version:

The role primarily involves creating innovative and high-quality designs that will make us a lot of money. 

Here is a bulleted list of responsibilities:

• Listing Images for our products on various selling channels (Amazon, Walmart, and Shopify)
  • Product photography editing
  • Image composition from stock images or AI-produced ones
  • Listing image layouts
• Potential participation in other design projects
  • Graphic design for products
  • Packaging design
• Communication and participation with the Creative Team in order to improve the overall quality of our design production and processes

--Do I need experience?--

Speaking frankly, it will definitely help you if you have some experience in designing, but no you technically don’t as long as you have a high base-rate of competency and can learn very, very quickly.

--Do I need a college degree?--

You just need to be awesome and can produce a lot of designs (from simple and boring to detailed and fun) in a reasonable amount of time.

--Is there any specific skill that I need to have?--

You should be proficient with design tools, mainly Adobe Suite’s Photoshop and Illustrator. Other than that, we will train you for everything else. This is a junior position, so we don’t expect you to create wonders. But you should be able to pick things up and improve quickly upon receiving feedback.

--What are the expectations from the position?--

As mentioned above, we don’t expect you to deliver perfect designs on day one, but we do expect you to be a fast learner and consistently improve your design skills based on our training during this period.

We will heavily invest in you, so you better bring your A-game :)

--Are there any geographic restrictions?--

As long as you are in a country that doesn’t have active sanctions from the US government, we are interested. Our founder isn’t known for respecting the government much, but they have all the guns, so…

--How much can I expect to make?--

Right now, we want awesome people that can grow with us. We definitely want to pay you what you’d like to make, but we also have a somewhat limited budget compared to the big players in the field. Don’t think that you’re limited in how much you can make by how much you are hired for. We treat people really f*cking well, so once we see you’re a rockstar we’re happy to pay you more. 

So, for this role, we’re ballparking $12-$18k/year. We can definitely discuss more in person. I promise we’re reasonable and won’t try to take advantage of you.
