About the role

We are looking for a talented and dedicated QA Engineer to build the safest credit card in the market. Our tech team is growing – and learning as we go. We’re on a journey, building and evolving the way we work, and we’re looking for recruits who can teach us as much as we’ll teach them.

• Work as part of cross-functional, friendly, agile tech teams to ensure quality is driven into the development process.

Taking off!

You will meet other Tymiteers and their roles in the guild and squad, looking at the tools, processes, ceremonies, stack, stakeholders, etc. Also, where to find out the documentation and what are the development processes with all its conventions. Start participating in the team culture and the recurring meetings of the QA team and squad, such as retros, syncs, and internal learning sessions, so you get familiar with the format.

You will be able to start pulling the thread, looking at possible improvements and things you may want to take on later. You will understand the scale and impact of our business.

Dig in!

You will have ventured into all squads and worked cross-functionally with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers enough to understand requirements, provide technical insights. You will be familiar enough with the structure of our project to be able to start proposing improvements. Do manual test across different layers, define test plans, define test cases, start identifying risks.

You will be a crucial member of the team. So, your contributions and proposals will bring tremendous value to the business and help other more junior team members grow. You will have a vision of the roadmap and the priorities to make Tymit’s tech scalable. We are currently hiring QA Analysts to:

• Test our eCommerce website and back-end systems.
• Test the Wordfence security plugin, deployed to over 4 million production WordPress websites.
• Test WordPress updates, and their compatibility with the websites that we maintain.
• Test other internal and external customer-facing web applications.

As a QA Analyst at Defiant you will be required to:

• Find new bugs in a web application, WordPress plugin or back-end application, or system.
• Discover the steps to reproduce a bug.
• Document the steps in a well-written bug report which you will file.
• Reproduce bugs reported by a customer or reported to you by our customer service team. This may require some research on your part, working with the CS team to understand what the customer reported, and finding out how to reproduce the issue.
• Verify fixes that have been implemented by the dev team and deployed to our staging environment. If you discover an issue, you'll assign the issue back to the dev team. If you verify the fix, you can mark it verified and move on, until the application or system is ready to be deployed to production.

Figuring Out What to Test and Testing Broadly

One of the skills that we value highly in great QA analysts is the ability to test broadly. What we mean by this is, rather than testing the minimum requirements when verifying a bug, we expect our analysts to come up with creative tests that may reveal problems in new code. This requires anticipating ways that a fix may affect other parts of an application or data.

Specific skills and activities that help with our approach of "testing broadly" are:

• Looking at the PHP code in a pull request, that a developer has implemented, to understand what changed, and get an idea of what else a code change may break, then testing those parts of a system.
• Using a SQL client to access the database that an application is interacting with and looking at the table structure and data. Understanding how a developer's code changes the data, and coming up with new tests, using this knowledge, that may reveal a bug.
• Looking at server error logs to determine if a test is failing silently, or creating output in the error log that may reveal a new area that can be tested to identify a bug.
• Look at the Javascript browser console to find errors that code may be silently generating, that could reveal a bug or other potential problem.

Hiring Process

About The Role

True Fit is looking for a QA Automation Engineer to work with our team in India. True Fit is 100% remote, so you can work from almost anywhere!

True Fit (India) is presently seeking passionate and innovative QA Automation Engineer to join the Quality Engineering team. The person will be primarily responsible for building and enhancing the automation framework, creating and executing automated test cases with the primary aim to bring quality, efficiency. The person will be working on testing of ETL, Micro Services and machine learning models. This person will work closely with QA Manager, Tech Leads to design and implement QA automation.

Responsibilities

• Automate Tests: Develop and Enhance the automation framework and scripts.
• Execute Tests: Estimate, coordinate, plan and execute testing activities.
• Focus on Quality: Identify, record, document and track bugs, perform regression testing
• Learn: Contribute to team success by learning new technologies and tools, often while automating the software.
• Collaborate: Work closely with other team members to invent, prioritise, build, and support our applications. Participate in design reviews, provide improvement recommendations towards automation framework

Qualification and Skills

• Overall 3-5 years of experience in Quality Engineering
• 3+ year(s) of hand-on experience with Automation Testing and developing automation frameworks like BDD (Behave).
• Extensive experience with Web UI and API level testing
• Hands-on experience on any Object Oriented Programming languages like Python and scripting languages like Shell Scripting.
• Experience working with large scale Databases, would have worked with SQL and NOSQL databases.
• Good understanding of code management tools like Github, CI/CD tools like Docker, Jenkins
• Good analytical and communication skills
• Experience developing and releasing commercial software, especially software with a large user base or strict performance requirements.
• Execution skills: Gets things done both independently and collaboratively, and understands when each is appropriate.
• Exposure to performance and load testing is a plus.
• Exposure to Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence is a plus.

Major Responsibilities:

• Accountable for implementation and management of the global vendor quality oversight program. Managing a portfolio of vendors.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for a Senior QA Manual & Automation Engineer who has a passion for delivering high quality solutions. Working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, you will oversee and participate in the development, execution, and maintenance of both manual and automation tests and test coverage. You will mentor other team members in how to write tests in our testing framework, review PRs for test coverage and constantly work to make it easy for others to include tests on every piece of work before it merges. 

You will also use your experience and good judgment to advocate for and advance the automation testing standards and practices across our growing product development department. 

How You Will Make An Impact:

• Work cross-functionally with Engineers, Product Management and UX Design to ensure a smooth, continuous deployment of quality changes to our products
• Reduce manual testing efforts for ongoing development teamwork as you migrate us towards full automation test coverage on each piece of work before it merges and ships
• Identify gaps in test coverage, prioritize them and then work to close them
• Develop test strategies, plans, and maintain automation test data
• Develop and continuously improve both manual and automated tests as new system features and enhancements are developed
• Assist in the identification, selection, and implementation of tools, technologies, and practices that support the overall QA process
• Document and mentor other Engineers in the use of our testing frameworks
• Identify and report to product teams questionable functions, performance concerns, and inconsistencies in production applications
• Contribute to accurate time estimates for automation test development

Must Haves:

• 5+ years of experience working in QA, with at least 3 years writing Unit tests and UI Automation tests in JavaScript / TypeScript
• Significant experience in testing web and mobile applications
• A solid understanding of the Test Pyramid and how to apply it to real-world test coverage for a product under active development
• Prior experience working in a cross-functional team that performs Test Driven Development and/or includes automated test coverage on every coding change
• 3+ years of experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
• Knowledge of automated testing environments, such as Appium, Webdriver.io, Detox and Test Rail
• High attention to detail, great communication and strong sense of professionalism
• Experience working with remote-first distributed teams
