Nexus Mutual is an on-chain risk marketplace operated by and for members. Our mission is to build an ecosystem in which anyone can protect anyone else by sharing risk. The mutual launched in 2019 and has become the leading coverage provider within the DeFi ecosystem with more than $7.3m in claims have been paid to date. The protocol provides a decentralized, transparent alternative to traditional insurance companies. The economic incentives within the mutual solve the centralized insurance industry's core problem: the principal-agent problem. What we are looking for We are looking for a Smart Contract Engineer who can help us build the premier on-chain risk marketplace for DeFi, CeFi and beyond. You can learn more about us here: Twitter, Discord, Github. Someone who can write and deploy complex smart contract logic, a team player that will work alongside our group on designing and implementing product functionalities, and the core mechanisms that power Nexus. Our team is working with web3 technologies across the stack. The ideal person is someone who can work both independently and as part of a team, has a good understanding of Web3 primitives, is passionate about building scalable applications, and highly curious about DeFi and Crypto.App layer: React.js, Redux, ReduxSaga, Reselect, GraphQL, Node.js, TypeScript, AssemblyScript, MongoDBWeb3: Solidity, OpenZeppelin, Chainlink oracles, Hardhat, Mocha, Chai, Tenderly, IPFS, The Graph, Ethers.js, Web3-onboard.jsInfrastructure: AWS, CircleCI, Coveralls, Kibana, Grafana, PrometheusAreas you'll contribute to* Writing and compiling Solidity Smart Contracts, including quirks and edge cases* Ethereum testnets and contract deployment scripts* Integrate with and fetch data from Oracles and The Graph* Assuring blockchain and web-client integration * Containerization of backend services* 1 year of Solidity development experience and experience with some of our tech stack, like Hardhat, Node.js, Typescript, Ethers.JS, Node.JS, IPFS.* Understanding of The Graph, Oracles, and the broader web3 tech stack* Knowledge of common smart contract development design patterns, industry standards (ERCs and EIPs), and best practices. Understand typical smart contract problems like reentrancy, migrations, and upgradeability of immutable systems.* Over 3 years of backend engineering and proficiency in languages like C++, Python, JavaScript, Typescript, C# or Core Java* Obsession with clean and secure code and a tendency to test your own workYou will stand out if* You have expertise or interest in tokenomics, game theory, L2s, and DeFi protocols* You are self-motivated and eager to keep up with the fast pace of a small, remote startup team.* You have a low-ego attitude are willing to learn, grow and have product ownership.* You have an understanding of layer 2 protocols, bridges and blockchain interoperabilityAbout us* We are a small and dynamic team, passion for our work describes and sets the tone for everything that we do.* We are a fully remote organisation that strives to pave the way for the future of insurance* Our compensation package is comprised of a competitive fixed (fiat component) plus a generous token allocationWhy are we doing this? The concept of insurance comes from communities in the past that pooled their resources to protect each other from the risks they all faced. It works better the more people are in the pool as the numbers become more reliable. But this method isn’t scalable because it is a trust-based system and the network of iniduals trusted by everyone in the pool only extends so far. Hence traditional insurance companies emerged. When Ethereum and smart contracts came along we realized we could apply our insurance industry knowledge to our passion for decentralised technology. We realized we could build a mutual on a platform where iniduals only need to trust the system, not everyone in it.Specifically, we could see a solution to the problem of agency—where an insurer looks after customers' money on their behalf. We also saw the opportunity to make significant cost savings compared to the traditional insurance model. As we’re already in the UK, we have the perfect base to build out this concept due to the existing law around mutuality. The aim is to provide our members with more simple, transparent, accessible, and affordable financial protection against their risks.More info here 👉 https://nexusmutual.gitbook.io/docs/welcome/faq/nexus-mutual-the-basics #Salary and compensation

All technology is written and maintained by a multi-discipline engineering team of around 300 people globally. Our engineers work in ‘super teams’ which are focused on key areas of our platform as well as other innovative products. This also includes server-side, client-side and mobile engineers working closely with UX experts, copywriters and designers. Teams are empowered to choose a way of working that works for them, often opting for a Kanban-like approach. Notion and Asana are then used to specify and manage work; Github, CircleCI and Terraform Enterprise as part of an immutable-infrastructure, continuous delivery pipeline; and Datadog, Sentry and Cloudwatch to measure performance and monitor production. Some of our coding conventions are open-source . Kraken is a great place to learn, work with some talented engineers and level-up your skills. Our technologyOn the server-side, we mainly use Python. Most of our websites are powered by Django, Django-REST-framework and GraphQL (Graphene). We use AWS heavily as part of a continuous deployment pipeline. See, for example, Django, ELB health checks and continuous delivery. Client-side, we use React, htmx and SASS; our mobile apps are built using native code or React Native. Our teamOur team’s goal is to make Kraken as awesome as the Energy Specialists who use it every day. We work closely with them and our in-house designers to keep making it better and better. Beyond that, our work empowers Kraken’s many backend teams to build amazing features without having to worry about CSS and JavaScript getting in their way. We do this by building our own design system, working with other teams on building new features, and ensuring Kraken is a joy to work on. All while adding new features and maintaining existing functionality. We’re looking for a strong backend developer with a solid understanding of Django, to help us become even more of a full-stack powerhouse. So, would you like to work in a team that gets the opportunity to collaborate with others, and dip into many domains? Would you like to help shape the experience of Energy Specialists using Kraken? Would you like to help come up with the best patterns to build an awesome website, from Django templates, to React, to HTMX? Would you like to mentor Frontend devs who want to build out their skills and go full-stack, while learning a few Frontend tricks from them? Strong attention to detail is essential.* We have challenging technical problems to solve; like processing tens of millions of meter readings a day. We need the right technology in place to handle this smoothly as well as feeding data into a machine learning pipeline that models and predicts consumption. Or thinking about how we adapt Kraken to improve other utilities like water and broadband.* There's a great opportunity for disruption in the UK energy market. The big suppliers still dominate, but are not exactly popular. The energy landscape is changing as we move to more dis-aggregated forms of generation, with less predictability, more dynamism and smarter technology.* You'll be working for a company that’s fighting climate change. Our generation arm is the largest investor in solar generation in the UK, and is funding wind and anaerobic digestion. As a supplier, we're helping people to use greener technology and renewable energy, all helping move the UK towards a lower carbon future. What you'll need* We're looking for someone with a general interest in technology and problem-solving; someone diligent and thoughtful. An organisation where people learn, decide, and build quicker. Where people work with autonomy, alongside a wide range of amazing co-owners, on projects that break new ground. However, you do need to be able to work in the UK. We're very excited to be growing our team. We're looking for skills and experience to help shape and define the future of not only our team, but the wider business at a global scale. If you're reading this and grinning, please apply! There are huge challenges to tackle, and we need amazing people who are keen to get stuck in.If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you.
