ClassDojo’s vision is to give every child on Earth an education they love. We’re doing this by connecting communities of teachers, children and families, and then giving them learning experiences their children love. This means ClassDojo is a consumer network, and grows like one; we are already serving communities at massive scale: last year we served 1 in 20 children in primary school in the world—52 million children—with a team of just 55. The communities we serve love and adore ClassDojo (see what they're saying); our Net Promoter Score is usually in the 70s and 80s.
As a Design Leader at Classdojo, you'll be embedded with a team of engineers, researchers, product managers, and other cross-functional teammates. You will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from conception through launch and scale, working on both strategy and tactics to create products that teachers, kids and families love.
What you’ll do:
Turn research insights and product strategy into simple, elegant, emotive products that people want and love to use. You'll optimize for learning each step of the way by exploring ergent directions, rapidly testing them with users, and converging on feasible, innovative products people love.
What you'll bring:
*
**Product discovery experience:** You have experience rapidly researching, discovering, prototyping and ultimately delivering high quality consumer products, as part of a cross-functional team. You can share many shining examples of real work you've shipped, and what you learned along the way. Your design process is holistic, and includes user research, gathering data-driven insights, rigorous testing and rapid iteration. You love doing rapid, user-centric product discovery, and you have high standards (our product discovery teams aim for 10-20 validated prototypes per week).\
*
**Product thinking:** You thrive best when helping identify and refine problems to solve. You facilitate and draw the best design ideas from teammates. You have the ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision (not just 'how it should look' but 'what we should build’). You can think and talk about the bottom line. Analytics don’t scare you, and you know which features can act as force multipliers on your company’s business model. You want to contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product and executive teams.\
*
**Cross-platform experience:** You’ve shipped great experiences across several platforms. You know what translates from desktop and what doesn’t, or why you’d opt for one solution for iOS and another on Android.\
*
**Communication:** You possess excellent communication skills: you are able to clearly articulate your design decisions. You like sharing your work, even if it’s still in progress, to bring the team along with you. You have a sharp ambiguity filter, always seeking to clarify what is unclear for yourself and others.\
*
**Craftsmanship:** You know that design doesn’t end after you've shipped. You perpetually work with cross-functional teams to ensure our products maintain and deepen product-market fit with our users. You give and solicit feedback from other designers in order to continually raise our bar for quality.\
*
**Technical skills:** You’re a prolific designer with relevant work that you’re happy to share and discuss with us. You're familiar with common microinteractions in use (on mobile, web, desktop, etc), and have nuanced views on how to make many of them even better.\

Help fix the legal industry!
The way legal paperwork gets done is filled with inefficiencies, which leads to ridiculously high legal fees. We fix this by building software that automates and streamlines the process.
We're profitable and growing sustainably. We're the most popular way for high-growth technology startups to form, and are also used by tons of top-tier startups for hiring and fundraising. Our software is more advanced than any other online legal service. We've invested a lot in architecture, maintainability, and testing, giving us a significant advantage as we build out functionality that founders and attorneys can currently only dream of.
We're a quiet leader in the legal technology space — if you are interested in changing the legal industry, this is arguably the best place to be.
Notes on our stack and process:
* Our backend is mostly in Ruby on Rails, with very small amounts of Scala and Go as well.
* Our front-end is mostly in Ember.* We use CI extensively for linting, tests, visual diffs, and deployment.* We're not religious about any particular technology — we believe in using the right tool for a given problem. This is a great fit if you want to work:
* ... on a complex product, with a ton of engineering challenges
* ... in a company that strongly values good software development practices* ... at a product-driven company bringing an archaic industry into the future* ... on a beloved product with a lot of usage and visibility in the startup community* ... with bright people who are extremely passionate about their work* ... where you'll be a key early software engineer* ... at a financially sound company that is not dependent on venture capital financingYou must have:
* An inability to write anything but clean, maintainable code.
* A strong aversion to code without test coverage.* Deep experience with building, maintaining, and optimizing large-scale, production Ruby on Rails applications* Significant experience building software as part of a team with strong development practices* Excellent written English communication skillsExperience with Ember is a bonus, but not mandatory.
We've been remote-first since 2013. If you're in the SF Bay Area and want to work in an office when the pandemic is over, we could probably arrange that.
We are happy to support an H-1B visa application after 2 years of employment, if desired. We are only looking directly for full-time employees - we are absolutely not interested in agencies, contractors, or recruiters.

Here at Clerky, we build software to help startups and their attorneys get legal paperwork done both safely and easily. We're the most popular way for high-growth technology startups to form, and are also used by tons of top-tier startups for hiring and fundraising paperwork.
Despite our popularity, we have been extremely quiet and focused on product development. As a result, many of our customers don't fully understand the full value of what they're getting, and there is still a lot of room for growth in terms of market awareness. We're looking for a content strategist / writer to help us tackle these challenges!
Things You Could Work On
* Blog posts.
* Newsletters.* White papers.* Social media.* Support documentation.* Internal documentation.Minimum Requirements
* Highly considered writing — you naturally seek to make sure every assertion you make is one you intend to make, like you might with a scientific paper.
* Concise writing — you naturally seek to find the most elegant way to communicate and eliminate any unnecessary words. You get pleasure from making sure your writing doesn't have any throwaway phrases or filler words.Work as craft — you get much of your satisfaction from refining and iterating your work until it's as close to perfect as possible. We're not looking for someone who primarily gets satisfaction from pumping out content at a high speed.* Lack of ego — due to the complexity of our subject matter, and the nuanced nature of our market, writing at Clerky often requires a lot of iteration. If you take feedback personally, this probably isn't a good fit.* Critical thinker — we seek to learn from what others have done, but use that to inform our thinking from first principles rather than blindly following an established playbook. This position is for a contractor, at roughly 5-15 hours per week to start. If we turn out to be a good fit for each other, an increased workload and full-time employment are definite possibilities, if those are appealing to you. We work asynchronously, so you can set your own schedule and work from wherever you like.
Compensation is highly competitive. We seek the best, and compensate accordingly.

Response is organizing the world’s inventory – making it universally accessible and useful. We make it easy for businesses to shop all their vendors in one place. From one person operations to publicly-traded companies, teams that use Response cut ordering time in half and save on supplies with the vendors they already use. You can watch our latest demo here.
Traction
We're still in private beta, but we're already working with amazing companies like Embark, Backflip, Saltbox, Findaway (a Spotify company), and many more.
Funding
We are well-funded and backed by great investors, including Y Combinator, Twenty Two Ventures, and Derianto Kusama.
Team
We’re a small but mighty team of 3 technical co-founders – Keivan, Kais, and Nolan. We've spent years relentlessly focused on understanding the biggest challenges facing B2B purchasing. We started off learning about these challenges in the humanitarian sector building enterprise software to help procurement teams automate the tendering process. When the COVID-19 crisis hit the world, we dropped everything to help: giving our technology to healthcare teams so they could quickly source life-saving PPE. For a time, we even became procurement officers ourselves – providing our services (and up to 30% in savings) to other high-growth startups.
Why join now?
We have a clear target persona, initial sales playbook, and are building something people want. At the same time, we've only taken our first step towards a significantly larger opportunity. Like any startup, our product and GTM roadmap is ever-evolving, but it's never been clearer. In short, it's the perfect time to join and we can't wait to meet you. 🚀

About us
Our mission at Speak is to teach the next billion people how to speak English.
We believe that automatic speech recognition and machine learning will transform how people learn English. We're building this future: software that can understand what a student is saying, give them immediate feedback, and guide them towards fluency, all on their phone.
Currently, almost nobody learning English approaches fluency because doing so is expensive, arduous, often embarrassing, and requires human tutoring at hourly rates. We believe that by using AI and technology to replace much of the human involvement in the English learning process, we'll be able to help anyone that wants to learn this life-changing skill.
Speak is one of the fastest growing language learning apps in the world - we're growing 30% MoM and our users generate over 10,000 minutes of training data every day.
About this role
We're looking for a senior ML engineer to take a central role on Speak's machine learning & speech team. This is a very special opportunity for the right engineer to work on enormously impactful problems with clear solutions powered by real-world deep learning. You'd have complete ownership over our machine learning projects and work extremely closely with product, engineering, and design, to ship custom models from conception through deployment to millions of users.
The right candidate will be obsessed with and experienced in building and training custom models, have a strong nose and developed intuition for continually making progress, and be willing to do whatever it takes to make the model work in production.
What you'll do
* Build custom ASR, speech, and audio models from conception to training to deployment in production. Think custom small-vocabulary ASR model, sequence-to-sequence phoneme recognizer, or audio style transfer model.
* Collect, structure, and clean training data at scale. Think accented speech from our users, academic datasets, and crawling the web for speech audio data.* Work closely with almost every other team at the company (product, engineering, design, content) to build user experiences and productize these modelsWhat we're looking for
* You've written, trained, debugged, and deployed several custom models, and can tell the story around how and why you did it, how you solved issues and bugs, and how you created a meaningful end-user experience.
* You love getting your hands dirty, building models and knocking down roadblocks, and trying out new techniques for fun.* Ideally, experience with acoustic modeling and speech/audio data, or other real-time signal processing. Why work on ML at Speak?
1. Join a fantastic, tight-knit team at the right time: we're growing super quickly - our subscriber base has grown 20x in the past 12 months, and we've achieved product-market fit. You'd join at a magical time when a single person could significantly change the course of the company. We're also backed by some of the best startup and AI investors in the world.
2. Innovate with a huge, exciting, and unique dataset: we have a giant dataset of English speech data that's growing every day, and a large set of problems that we're trying to solve. This is an opportunity to work with an almost unlimited amount of valuable data and build out models that could directly transform people's lives.3. Immediately impact the product: there aren't many consumer products where machine learning actually occupies a central role in the product experience; Speak is one of them. You'd be applying and honing your ML skills to build models that directly power core product experience; get something working well and it could be in the app in a week.4. Ownership & responsibility: this role offers a lot of autonomy, responsibility, and ownership within Speak's ML efforts. Since we're so small, you'll work with almost every other team. This means you'll have both the autonomy to try out new ideas and the resources to make a product vision a reality.",
