About the Role
Please note, this is not a product design role. Our work is overwhelmingly branding and website design, with our Founder/Creative Director overseeing the integration of the two. Constructive’s Design Director leads our UX/visual design team and reports to our Founder & Creative Director to ensure that the work we co-create with clients is strategically sound, creatively inspired, and highly effective. We are looking for a designer who has extensive UX and interaction design experience in large-scale, content-rich websites and who, at a minimum, has a strong eye for visual design fundamentals and user interface design.
You’ll manage and mentor our team of UX and visual designers to help them continuously create stand-out work. You’ll listen to, learn from, and lead clients—facilitating design strategy, presenting work, and providing consultative guidance. You’ll collaborate with Constructive’s strategy, content, and engineering teams to ensure that what we produce delivers results.
You will also be a valuable member of Constructive’s management team, collaborating with company leadership to shape our strategies and practices. And you’ll get ongoing leadership coaching and support from our executive coach to build your leadership and management skills.
Your Core Responsibilities
Here are the primary activities and outcomes that Constructive’s Design Director is accountable for and by which your success and contributions will be measured.

- Shape our UX design practices. You ensure that the sitemaps, wireframes, and prototypes you and your team produce embody best practices and “next practices” in human-centered design.
- Lead our design team. You manage, mentor, and elevate our design team—inspiring them, strengthening their skills, and continuously coaching them to seek greatness in their work.
- Lead design strategy workshops. You translate brand and digital strategies into collaborative client workshops that produce mission-aligned brand experiences.
- Lead client presentations. You present work persuasively, articulate how design solutions deliver on strategy, and steer critical conversations to balance the need to integrate client feedback with the need to advocate for effective design.
- Collaborate across teams. You work closely with our strategy, content, and engineering teams—and our Creative Director— to ensure that design intent are faithfully translated into final deliverables.
- Support resourcing and project health. You make design team assignments, contribute in resourcing meetings, and work with project managers to ensure that they have visibility into projects and that our design work is tracking to scope, budget, and timeline.
- Build our design team. You secure the talent we need to produce the work that we and our clients expect, identifying talent for our team and building out our pool of freelance consultants.
- Contribute thought leadership. You help our Marketing Lead produce thought leadership on design practices by sharing your ideas so that they can be turned into articles, webinars, and other content marketing.

- At least 7 years of UX and UI design experience, primarily in agency settings, creating large-scale, content-rich, brand presence websites.

- A strong eye for visual design fundamentals—typography, color systems, grid theory, and information organization.
- Collaborative leadership capabilities with the ability to manage designers and manage up to the Creative Director for feedback and support.
- Exceptional presentation and speaking skills—the ability to build confidence in clients, persuasively articulate our ideas without being pushy, and facilitate strategic feedback conversations.
- An allergic reaction to mediocre work, an unrelenting eye for detail, and an insistence that any work we produce meets our highest standards and honors our clients’ trust in us.

BackgroundFinley helps innovative companies unlock growth by helping them maximize their access to debt capital. In industries from finance to real estate, today's most innovative startups rely on debt capital to fuel their growth. But managing debt capital manually is so error-prone and labor-intensive that it might as well be rocket science. Debt capital borrowers need to track (and comply with) hundreds of pages of credit agreement rules and requirements in order to maintain access to their funding. One key borrower obligation is data and compliance reporting. Our software automates debt capital management and reporting by connecting with source systems and generating asset reports in the formats capital providers expect to see, which saves borrowers time and money as well as ensuring that they can maximize their capital access. The RoleWe’re looking for Software Engineers to join our Engineering team. As an early employee, you’ll be responsible for designing, building, and testing an entirely new category of capital markets software from the ground up. You’ll architect and build the infrastructure that helps fintechs around the world collectively manage billions of dollars. Just as importantly, you’ll help shape the engineering culture and trajectory of a Series A startup. We’re looking for 0 → 1 iniduals who are comfortable with autonomy early on and excited to build structures that will scale their own impact over time. In other words, we’re looking for candidates who want to build a lasting company just as much as they want to build industry-changing software. We believe in finding the best technology for the job, and being disciplined with only adopting the tools that actually let us move faster, build more securely, and enable a higher quality of life. We hate inefficiency and embrace intellectual debate to constantly find ways to make our lives easier and products better. Our tech stack (see below) reflects that philosophy. Your responsibilities* You will be responsible for helping architect, build, and scale the first lender-borrower relationship platform for the debt capital markets.* You will work with the team to design, product manage, and test early features for the Finley system.* You will become an expert in information security, data engineering and API design in a heavily regulated space.* You will become an expert on structured finance (no worries, we’ll fill you in!) and the ways in which technology can bring standardization to a field accustomed to legacy solutions.* You will help grow the Finley team by helping interview job candidates, mentor new engineers, and document standard operating procedures. Our tech stack* Backend: NodeJS + Express, Apollo Server, Typescript* Frontend: React + Hooks, Typescript, GraphQL, Apollo Client* Database: Postgres + Knex* Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, ECS, CDKWe're looking for* Builders. You have experience building web applications for 5+ years and can scope and ship products independently. * Problem-solvers. You focus on delivering outcomes and prefer to use the right tool for the job, rather than building for building’s sake. (That said, getting excited about our tech stack built on Node.js, React, GraphQL and AWS wouldn’t hurt. See above.) * Collaborators. You like collaborating with Business, Design, and Product functions in addition to other engineers. You stay intellectually honest, challenge others without ego, and believe that the best solutions only emerge when everyone brings their perspective to the table.* Systems thinkers. You enjoy the complexity of designing for a range of stakeholders (think borrowers, lenders, and banks) and source systems. You get excited about designing for the long-term. * Team-builders. You look forward to helping recruit, train, and mentor a team of engineers at Finley. #Salary and compensation

• Separate each color of the design into inidual layers using Adobe Photoshop to ensure the artwork is print-ready.
• Ensure the final artwork meets our screen-printing standards and is returned in a format we can use (e.g., PSD with separated layers).
Requirements:
• Must be highly proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
• Must demonstrate a keen eye for detail, ensuring all designs meet the highest standards of accuracy and precision.
Why Work With Us:
• We have a steady and ongoing demand for recreated designs, offering consistent work each week.
• On a typical week, we will need help with 40 to 90 designs, and the demand is continuing to grow.
• Flexible workload: You can take on as many or as few designs as you can handle, allowing you to work at your own pace.
• We anticipate hiring multiple artists due to the large volume of work.
Compensation:
We are committed to offering compensation that reflects the high value we place on the people we hire. We are not seeking the least expensive talent; rather, we are looking for artists whose work is exceptional and who pay great attention to detail.
Application Process:
If you are interested, please send your resume to [email protected]. Upon review, we will send you a simple test design to assess your skills. The test work will be basic and won’t take very long, but it is necessary for us to evaluate your abilities. When we send the test, we will also provide specific details on how we want the artwork returned, along with sample files to ensure you fully understand our expectations. Your performance on this test will help us determine who to hire. We are excited to grow our team and provide endless amounts of work to the right artists.
