We’re looking for a scrappy and dynamic product designer who’s comfortable leading multiple UX projects in a fast-paced, startup environment. You’ll collaborate closely with the Product and Design Leads + engineering team to craft the future of our core product. Social Impact is developing a more robust cadre of long-term consultants who can providegraphic designsupport for various research activities, which may include impact evaluations, performance evaluations, monitoring systems, or other studies. Under this solicitation, SI intends to select qualified consultants to contract via Blanket Service Agreements (BSAs). The Base design team builds the technologies that enable Uber and our partners to understand, plan, execute and build the business at scale. Think of Base as everything that defines the core of a page, both from a visual and user-interaction perspective, and the foundations of Uber's user interface. It brings all our Uber experiences together, under a single, unified framework.
What You Will Do
Spearhead the development of our next-generation design system, setting new standards for visual excellence and consistency across all product interactions.
Collaborate closely with product designers, engineers, and others to integrate these advancements seamlessly, enhancing the overall user experience.
Leverage systematic thinking to craft solutions that are not only visually appealing but deeply integrated into the fabric of user interactions.
Mentor and inspire a team of designers, instilling a culture of design excellence and innovation.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of experience in visual design, preferably within a tech-focused agency or an in-house product team.
Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in visual design and system thinking.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Interaction Design, or a related field.
Proven track record of designing and implementing visual elements that enhance user interaction and engagement.
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, and other prototyping software.
Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in visual design and system thinking.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience working in a cross-functional team environment.
Experience in leading design projects within a design system team is a plus.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$171,000 per year - USD$190,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
