About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Operations Specialist to be responsible for all payroll-related tasks and strategy. In this role, your responsibilities will include collecting and reviewing employee information and working hours, calculating wages, preparing and processing employee payments, and maintaining accurate payroll records.

You should be able to investigate and resolve payroll issues and ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards, and have excellent people skills and a high numerical aptitude.

The Payroll Specialist will report to the HR Director and provide exemplary customer service to our employees and cross-functional partners. You will participate in the daily workflow of the Finance department and will ensure the accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll for Kameo employees and contractors in multiple states.

How You Will Make an Impact:

As the Payroll Operations Specialist, you will play an integral part in shaping the processes in HR and payroll, and fuel insights into large financial objectives. You will have the opportunity to analyze regional payroll data and form opinions for upper management to make data driven decisions. The ideal candidate is a team player who is eager to learn and work through complex solutions, who is excited to join a fast-growing startup. This position will also have the opportunity to influence future Kameo business processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Process full cycle multi-state weekly and bi-weekly payroll for employees and contractors at Kameo
  • Analyze HR and compensation processes and make recommendations for continual improvements
  • Maintain personnel database regarding salaries
  • Manage organization budget and expenses
  • Document and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Address and resolve employee complaints or issues relating to the payroll system (Paycor)
  • Work with company database programs to process payroll
  • Prepare reports to relevant departments about payroll, company budget and expense

Required Experience and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3-5 years experience with major Payroll systems (Paycor experience a plus but not required)
  • Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required
  • Strong knowledge of common fiscal procedures, tax laws, wage laws, accounting, and payroll best practices.
  • Good understanding of APIs and data integrations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information securely and with discretion
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and as a team player in a fast-paced environment
