About You:
- 4+ years of relevant experience as a React Native and/or Android engineer. You are at least familiar with how the Android platform works, including a solid understanding of how React Native internally works, TypeScript and Git.
- Apart from great technical skills, you also have an eye for a nice design. You care about building products that people enjoy using.
- You put into action solid best practices, and enjoy helping the rest of the team acquire and follow them, but at the same time you follow a pragmatic approach. You understand technology always serves the purpose of having a real product used by real users, and keep this as the main decision driver.
- You have excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English. You enjoy talking with other teams (Product, Mobile, Marketing, Business) to achieve the required coordination to create and support a great product
- You are comfortable with a high level of agency. We value creativity and a bias towards action, so we try to empower our engineers as much as possible to do great work!

We are looking for someone who is eager to solve complex problems in a sustainable and pragmatic way. You don’t shy away from calling out possible pitfalls or infeasible plans. On the other hand you are also solution oriented, and helpful towards people who don’t understand code.
As important as coding itself however, is your attitude towards colleagues and learning. We are looking for someone who is eager to improve, not too shy to ask any type of question and who can communicate well in writing. The reason for this is that we work remotely a lot (we did quite so before corona, but now practically 100%).
All teams need an experienced person to maintain the overview, improve the architecture, foresee the rabbitholes and help the more junior people grow. This is the position for such a person! Our 2 main products are composed of several services of varying complexity, and what you will work on is erse. Some have been set up with deliberate (distributed) architectures in mind, others have grown more organically. It is important in this job to help Product Managers to determine what is feasible to build, whilst also striving for reducing complexity and improving the stability of those services.
If this interests you, Read our general introduction, if you haven't yet.
**
Compensation**The envisioned salary range for this position is €62-96k per year (excluding 8% holiday pay), depending on experience. Besides that we offer Stock Appreciation Rights and a 4% learning budget. You’ll get an Apple Macbook Pro (M1 or M2!) to work on.
**Required skills
**- You are highly proficient with Python or another server-side language like Go, Ruby or Java (and willing to learn Python of course).
- You have some professional experience in another programming language.
- You can design an architecture that suits the requirements of the service.
- You can clearly outline your thoughts about a technical solution in written form (and diagrams are always a bonus!)
- You actively engage with others to optimize processes and reduce bottlenecks.
- You are able to pick up new things quickly.
- You want to work 32 to 40 hours a week.
- You are able to work with a erse group of people. You’re not a rockstar or code-ninja, you’re a human, of some form 🙂.
- You have experience with container based deployment in one cloud or another.
**
Nice to have skills**- You might have experience with frontend development.
- You might have experience with Geographic Information Systems.
Backend engineers are responsible for working on our client's products and work hand in hand with product managers, designers and front end engineers to solve common goals. Backend engineers primarily work on building APIs and core modules / components to encapsulate reusable logic. They are responsible for optimising the system for speed and stability, implementing security structures and developing reusable code libraries and date structures.
**
Responsibilities**- Meet with the software development team to define the scope of software projects
- Communicate with the front end team to accurately implement APIs
- Think not only of the current solution but how code may be reused
- Work hand in hand with security and network teams
- Design and implement scalable web services, applications, and APIs
- Identify bottlenecks and improving software efficiency
- Collaborate with the architecture team on developing microservices
- Write technical documents
- Able to follow standards set for a code base and maintain consistency
- Able to code unit test cases for all developed code

- You will be mapped to the right customer based on your skills
- Torc is here to make finding and applying for jobs simpler, faster, and easier. One way we do this is by grouping similar types of jobs into a single Job Role (for example, Frontend Engineer, Full Stack Engineer, DevOps engineer). By qualifying developers for a Job Role, you can then apply to multiple jobs at once.

Fetch is a build-first technology company creating a rewards program to power the world. In the next 5 years, we will become a global platform that will completely transform how people connect with brands. It all comes down to two core beliefs. And not just the “you get to use our product!” cop-out. We’re talkin’ real, explicit value. Fetch points, perhaps.
