Description 

We are looking for an operations engineer (fully remote) to join our Security, Infrastructure, & Performance (SIP) team. In this role, you and your team will work on the network, systems, and platform that run all of DNSimple’s in-house developed applications and manage our third-party software. 

About the SIP team 

DNSimple runs a hybrid deployment environment running most of our infrastructure on globally deployed bare metal and augmenting this with AWS. We manage our own anycast authoritative DNS network, a second anycast DNS edge network, our URL redirector farm, and many other in-house applications. We use Infrastructure as code practices to manage all our systems and applications. 

About the job 

As a member of the Security, Infrastructure, and Performance team, your work will directly impact our customers by operating and enhancing the services we provide. Your work will also directly affect the other engineering teams by helping manage deploys and runtimes. About the role

ReMatter is looking for a Full Stack Engineer to help us build modern software solutions for the industrial scrap recycling industry. In this role, your contributions will increase the sustainability of the metal supply chain and increase the efficiency of its transportation and logistics, reducing carbon emissions.

As a Senior Software Engineer in our Agile environment, your team will rely heavily on your serious coding skills and technical expertise. Your primary role includes system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and installing portions of new systems and modification of existing systems. About you

You’ll consider yourself to be a mid-senior level developer with solid technical ability and good communication, but what really sets you apart is your interest in product engineering. You’ll be user-focussed and empathetic, and won’t think twice about arranging a video call with the customer to find out their motivations behind a feature request and digging deeper into the problem. It’s likely, as we have found so many times, that there’s even more gold to be found down there if you just keep looking. You’ll enjoy shipping quickly and the rapid dopamine hits from solving customer problems with grateful feedback.  

The role

We have a really exciting roadmap already planned out for 2023 which you’ll help deliver, but equally some of our best features come from prototyping and tinkering. We believe 10 small tweaks can easily surpass 1 big feature in terms of utility, so there is plenty of time available for that too. We encourage taking the time out to refactor, optimise and write tests - this is a platform we are building for the next 100 years.  

You’ll be working closely alongside Dominic, our founder and CTO. He’s worked with startups and product studios like BCG X and built Carebit from an internal tool into what it is today. 

A typical day might consist of discussing customer issues on standup, and perhaps taking a couple to work on during the day. We love quick wins at Carebit. Alternatively, you might choose to get your head down for a few hours to really focus on a big feature from the roadmap. As you might expect from a company founded by a software developer, we don’t do bureaucracy and constant interruptions at Carebit!

As we scale our efforts in 2023 and beyond, we’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer, to help us accelerate the development of our product.

The role in context

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our engineering department and help us bring our product to Enterprise level maturity. Your work will directly impact hundreds of thousands of users around the world.

As a senior member of the engineering team, you’ll build and deliver backend solutions such as APIs, integrations, and architecture components to enable the rapid growth of all our products.

You’ll own the design, code, and deployment of solutions and make sure they perform and scale in production. 

You’ll spend time on the following

• Create highly scalable and reliable microservices architectures
• Lead the entire software development and delivery cycle from ideation to deployment and everything in between
• Write clean, tested, and well-documented code
• Apply modern backend technologies, including but not limited to Python, Django, Redis, and AWS
• Efficiently utilize DevOps tools and practices to deliver high-quality software as well as value to end customers as early as possible.
• Work in a collaborative, talented distributed team across Europe, United States, South America, and Asia.
• You will act as a mentor for less-experienced team members through both your technical knowledge and leadership skills

Here’s what we’re looking for

• Experience in software development & delivery
• You can efficiently write high-quality, well-tested code and you are comfortable with functional and Object-Oriented programming languages
• You have experience building distributed and highly scalable systems including REST APIs and event-driven architectures
• You have strong knowledge about data storage design using relational and NoSQL databases
• You understand the importance of reliable monitoring, deployment strategies, and a highly scalable and robust cloud infrastructure
• You are passionate about improving skills and learning new technologies
• You enjoy influencing others and always advocate for technical excellence while being open to change 
• You’re resilient in ambiguous situations and can approach challenges from multiple perspectives
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills. You can validate your decisions and communicate them clearly

We typically expect candidates with at least 7 years of Senior Backend Engineer (Python) experience to have the skills mentioned above.

Bonus points if ...

• you have experience in a SaaS product based company
• you are comfortable with Agile methods, such as Extreme Programming (XP), Scrum, and/or Kanban
• you have a working knowledge of cloud technology such as AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, and Docker

As previous Go-To-Market execs, Nick (Co-Founder, COO) and I (Joshua - Co-Founder, CEO) know how to identify the needs of our users and build an enduring company, but we're looking for a talented and equally hungry Founding Engineer that wants to make an epic product & company.

You will play a key role in the early design of our web application architecture and the development of our Engineering and Product teams. You will have the opportunity to not only architect and build systems, but also shape the organization itself. This is a high ownership, impact, and visibility role in building a product that will directly impact the future of Vector. Vector engineers will become an expert on the industry and spend time talking to users, planning our product roadmap, and working on go-to-market initiatives. As an early member of a new team, you’ll also play a major role in shaping the team’s culture and organization to help us scale.
